  • ieGeek... I swear by this company!
Style: White Solar Camera-5MP
I highly recommend, and absolutely love these ieGeek Security Cameras! Super easy setup, installation, and operation. Just make sure you have a strong wi-fi signal at the location where you plan on installing your cameras. I had to buy a $30 wi-fi extender for one of the cameras I installed on my garage that was just a little out of range. Now I have a whole home security system with no monthly fees. They do offer cloud storage if you prefer to pay a monthly fee, but these cameras take up to 128gb micro SD cards to store the video clips, which is all the storage you need. I have 32gb in mine and I find this to be adequate for my needs. This ZS-GX1S (With Panel) is the latest cam I've added to my arsenal and I am not disappointed. I can pan and tilt for pinpoint accurate adjustments right from the comfort of my couch! 2K image quality is awesome. Night vision is nice and clear, and the lights are super bright. You can adjust the sensitivity of the motion detection, the speaker volume, light brightness, and the length of the video recordings. They all have two-way talk, and also a siren you can sound at will, or set to go off, or not, when the camera is triggered. Everything is done through their app right in the convenience of the palm of your hands. I truly can't find a bad thing to say about these cameras, or this company for that matter! Which brings me to my next point, ieGeek's stellar Customer Support! These people genuinely care! When I first had my system up and running, I was having playback issues trying to watch some of my captured videos. I reached out to them and they were really helpful and really concerned that they help resolve my issues. I ended up fixing it pretty easily myself with the wi-fi extender, but they were with me every step of the way. I really appreciated that! So if you are on the fence as I was, let me save you some research time. Purchase these bad boys! You will not regret it. I didn't, I absolutely love these things! For my first purchase, I bought 2 Floodlight Cams (ZS-GX5S), and 2 of their Smart Video Doorbells. After I found how great they all were, I went back for seconds and got 2 Spotlight Cams (ZS-GX3S). Now, for my third, and hopefully final purchase, I bought this one for the area of my property that's not covered by the rest of my cameras, and with it's pan and tilt capability, it gives our family an enhanced sense of confidence and security! Thank you ieGeek! ... show more

  • Cheap at thrice the price
Style: White Solar Camera-5MP
Siding installers trashed one of my Google cameras and I was tempted to replace it with another of the same make / model. But this little guy caught my eye with its pan and tilt capabilities, solar panel, and very low price for all that. Indeed, the price seemed too good to be true so I almost passed it by. After reading the reviews, however, I swallowed hard and made the leap. And I am truly glad I did. This camera may be inexpensive but it is far from cheap. Physical installation is so simple as to require no discussion except to say that four thumb screws make it so easy to mount and dismount from the mounting bracket that the wrong folks might be tempted. Beyond that, the only real question mark was where - not how - to install the solar panel. I wanted to minimize the solar panel so as to not attract unwanted attention. The manual cautioned, however, that good results required that certain parameters be observed. As a result, I was stymied for a bit. I finally concluded that I really did not care. After all, I could easily recharge the battery via the USB interface any time it became necessary. I could even make that charging interface permanent if I so desired. So, in the end, I tucked the panel flat into a cranny between a pair of fencing boards near the house. I still need to stow the cable but we will wait until ongoing exterior repairs are complete to do that. Even as it sits, however, the panel gets full sun about 60 percent of the day and, so far, the battery indicator has never indicated anything other than full. As for the pan and tilt that caught my eye in the first place, these work quite well and exactly as you would expect - with one possible exception: there is a slight delay between issuing a command and the camera's movement. I have seen this slight delay with other wirelessly networked devices but for reasons I cannot explain I found this to be disconcerting in this camera initially. The best, but inadequate, analogy I can offer is that it feels more like driving a boat than driving a car. I soon became accustomed to the slight delay, however, and now barely notice it. And, yes, there were other parts of the interface that seemed a bit clumsy at first. I guess I just had to make the transition from my Google camera interface, however, because after less than a week I was quite comfortable with it. And that includes the history interface that stymied me at first. History is something we have found to be quite useful with our Google cameras. Coupled with Nest Aware cloud storage, our Google cameras have afforded nearly unlimited video history. We have used it to good advantage on multiple occasions, the two most notable being a car theft and a car rear-ending a motorcycle in front of our house. The Nest Aware service also does a great job of analyzing movement and categorizing it as animal, person, etc. I have not yet tried the similar cloud services offered by ieGeek so I cannot comment on that. I do very much like, however, the ability to store up to 128 megabytes of history on the optional memory card. I am wondering, however, as to how well six-second, motion-activated recordings will fare in situations such as I mentioned above. I remain hopeful that there are options, cloud or otherwise, of which I am not yet aware. Finally, email support has been extremely responsive, extremely courteous and extremely helpful. And I do not use the word "extremely" carelessly. If you are like me, you will have to see it to believe it so I will leave it at that. In closing, even the happiest customer always wants "just one more thing." And what do you always want to do after you pan / tilt a camera and finally have the nearly perfect view? Optical zoom! The digital zoom on my ieGeek 5MP camera beats my lower-resolution Google cameras hands-down. Nevertheless, an optical zoom would still be a treat! And why not? If an inexpensive camera can offer an expensive feature like pan and tilt, why not optical zoom? Just kidding. Maybe. ... show more

  • Best definition yet
Style: White Solar Camera-5MP
Tried to buy this in Canada but it was not available on Amazon Canada yet. I have several outdoor cameras which all suffer from grainy picture quality and when I saw this from ieGeek I decided it was time to upgrade. I have had Arlo cameras which are pretty expensive and battery life is not great. With this 5Mp unit from ieGeek I mounted on the upper edge of my corner lot which has the front facing south. I decided to fully charge it before I mounted it and have tried to take advantage of the 360 sweep to try and pick up any activity I can. It was an easy install but I had to move one of my mesh extenders to get a stronger wi-fi signal because this camera works best at 80% or better for signal strength. It is great that they include a basic 7 day cloud storage even though I went ahead and bought a 123GB storage card anyway. I think I will let my Arlo subscription and Blink subscription expire and just pay the $49.99 year to activate all the AI features which includes car, pet. and package id I just got this so it will be interesting how the camera handles Calgary's cold winters but with the south sun beating down on the solar panel I am hoping that battery life will carry me through. The unit is pretty solid and they do include hardware for mounting I am very happy with the picture quality and I feel that my house is better protected now with this newer technology ... show more
