  • Great for kids and adults!
This was such a great project for my 6 year old twins and I. It was relatively easy t assemble and fun for us all. The size of it is much bigger than anticipated which was good! It is a quality product that holds together too. I was able to show my kids the basics of how a motor works!

  • Missing parts
The directions were not good...just pics and then pieces shown were not even in color. Got the stand built and started on the engine and we are missing 2 cylinders and all the parts for them.....depressing work so hard then can complete it.

  • Well made, easy to assemble motor!
Well made. Good value. Really enjoyed assembling this motor. Directions were clear. Being I have terrible vision, I really would have loved for instructions to be larger. Everything goes together well. Parts snap in solidly. Don't loose any pieces as they give ZERO extra parts. A suggestion and real time saver.....if you have a small parts organizer with multiple bins, dump the bag in that. Makes finding and retrieving small parts much simpler and faster. Very happy with this model. You wind up with a solidly built working motor! Found it very relaxing to build. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • A good kit
Alright, let me start by saying I've built over 100 kits from a certain big "L" company. I know way too much about the parts. So, it's impossible for me to not compare the two. For those not paying full attention to the description, this is a block assembly kit, with parts exchangeable with Lego. What I like about this set: * Fancy shiny gold bricks. * Parts are compatible (and vis-versa) with that "L" company * Lots of interesting motion in the finished product * Motor included, and is rechargeable (USB C port, comes with a USB A to USB C cable) * Clear instructions (for the most part). There are a couple cases where I spent some time going "Where do they want me to attach this assembly? But that was only like two of the steps. * Looks good on the shelf and does have play value. * You can run it with the clear panels open, to see even more of the functionality (easier to see the pistons, for example) What could use improvement: * Not all the parts have the same fit and finish of the big "L". From burs to some items that were not as easy as they should be to snap together (I'm looking at you clear technic piece into long bar). Some pieces had holes where no holes should be present. Didn't impact performance or look (in the end), but a sign of QA issues. * This also means *some* pieces don't hold as well as you might need. I had to swap some same shaped pieces because the first one I tried slid when in a position where I needed it to hold. * Related, some of the tubes were cut wrong. The black tubes have a cut line where the factory should have cut but didn't. Two tubes, two very different cuts. * Yes, the bags are numbered. However, you get about 10 bags, with half numbered "1" and half numbered "2". It's moderately useful -- more useful would be more numbers, or simply sorted by size (connectors, beams, bricks, etc.) If you're not a brick aficionado, you may not care at all about these anomalies. Now, I would not buy this if your goal is to show exactly how an engine works. There are no valves, the cam is in the wrong orientation, etc. However, if the goal is to understand the *concept* of an engine (and to build a fun set), then go for it! It is a good-sized model, but not nearly as big as the photo shopped photos in the description imply. Just under 9" by about 5.5". This kit is good for anyone 8 or up. It's not hard, but I would put it above beginner in the block building world (understanding the orientation of the cross-connectors is a must, otherwise you might think the parts don't fit together). If buying as a gift, be aware that mine came with both ends of the box open. All parts are in a bag, so that isn't a problem. There are two pieces of tape holding the box closed (supposedly). Even refastening the tape, an hour later it popped open again. So, do I like the kit? Absolutely. Is it as finely made as another company's bricks? No. Is it a lot cheaper for the quantity of bricks and complexity of model? Yes. Would I buy again for someone? Yes. ... show more
