Our cat isn't stupid, but it did take him a couple of tries to get the hang of this. Perfect fit, 95% weatherproof. A strong wind 35-45 mph can push it slightly open. If it didn't, the cat probably couldn't make it work. Good product.

The pet door was easy to install, and overall works well, but there are a few things that knock the rating down a bit: 1. There is a gap above the flap (see pic) that is open to the outside and I've had small bugs come through. I know I will also feel a cold draft through it in the winter. I'm sure heat is coming in too during the summer but not that noticeable right now. 2. Whilst trying to teach my cats to use the door, it was very difficult to pull the flap towards me to encourage them to come back in as there was nothing to pull on. I ended up putting a suction cup with a hook on it to pull it inwards (see pic). It would be nice if there was a small handle to make easier. 3. When the cats come back in the flap doesn't always close all the way leaving it open to the outside for heat and bugs to come in the house. 4. The instructions showed items to secure the window so it can't be opened from the outside but they weren't included in the box so had to buy something separately. The hardest part about this, and it's not really a fault of the product, is that I could never get the cats to ever use it by themselves to go outside. Two of them eventually figured out how to come back in on their own after they were out for a while, but I always have to put them out there myself. This pet door was added to my bedroom window so that my cats could get out into the catio I had built for them. It is easy for them to use and easier for me to close/lock when I don't want them to. It fits perfectly in the window so there are no wasted energy concerns. Overall, I love it!

The media could not be loaded. Update: 3rd time was a charm.. Janice from IDP Customer Service worked with me until my problem was resolved. She was very helpful and made sure the issues were fixed. I absolutely love this pet window not that everything is working for my cat. Thank you Janice 😊 Update: This is the second Ideal Pet Products Aluminum Sash Window Pet Door, Adjustable to Fit Window Widths from 33" to 38", Chubby Kat 7-1/2” x 10-1/2” Flap Size THE ONLY ISSUE I HAVE WITH THIS PRODUCT IS THE FLAP! FIX THE PROBLEM, IDEAL PET PRODUCTS!!!!! I did get a replacement, hoping that the flap would close like it was intended to do but it didn't! I love the pet window idea but IDEAL PET PRODUCTS you need to do something to make this problem right. I don't think that keeping on replacing the product is going to help because there's to many people complaining about it. As far as the draft around the window all that's been taken care of with a little weather stripping. At night I actually put cling wrap over the flap to keep the air out and the cat in. 1) No cover closure! My cat has figured out how to unlock it because the locking mechanism is cheap plastic. 2) The flap does not close back on its own, which is not good on the electric bill especially when it's 30° outside. 3) Pretty expensive for something that doesn't work for what it was intended for. 4) The window flap does not get better with time and use or a new replacement, it only gets worse. This is a replacement because the first one that I got the window would not close on its own and this one is doing the same thing. The video and first 3 pictures were taken of the replacement cat window and the other pictures were taken of the orginal. Unfortunately I can only send one video. I have several videos of the other window where it wouldn't close, it was worse thanwhat the replacementis doing. I have tried everything to make sure that it close properly. The pet window is level in all directions so that's not the problem. The problem is the flap, the rest of the window is great. My cat loves the freedom of coming and going but she doesn't pay my electric bill! Would I recommend this window, not really and it's only because of the flap not closing on its own and the locking system is cheap. I've put a lot of time and money in this window so my cat can enjoy the outside the way she was used to before we adopted her. If the company has some suggestions on how to fix these issues than I'm listening!?! ... show more

It fits great and looks nice. However it doesn't close all the way and my cat won't come in the cat door because it's ways popped open.
