  • Passed Prime95 stress test on an i7-11700K
Color: ARGB
When I ran Prime95 on this cooler with my i7-11700K (Non-OC'd, PL1 at 200W, PL2 at 220W, used with B560M Steel Legend motherboard), it did a fantastic job, far better than what I expected with Rocket Lake's ridiculously hot high-end CPUs! Max temps on the 11700K reached 96C and averaged around 92, which for using an air cooler like this with such an extremely power-hungry CPU, goes to show how well it can do! Testing this in Cinebench resulted in some interesting temps too, with the CPU delivering ~95% of its max potential performance (single-core score of 1517 points, multi-core score of 13857 points) and only maxing out thermally at around 82c! In case you are thinking "But those are ridiculously hot temps, who would want their CPU running that hot all the time?" - These are stress tests for absolute worst-case scenarios with this CPU air cooler on a CPU that is known as one of the hottest CPUs of the latest gens (i7-11700K). In game-testing, I have found with this cooler that my 11700K does not exceed 62c in the worst cases, staying relatively cool while delivering very high performance with this air cooler. The only real criticism I have of this CPU cooler is, as others have noted, the ridiculous placement of one of the mounting screws, which requires you to already have your own extra-long screwdriver to reach through the entire cooler to screw in the mounting screw. That's the least cool thing about this cooler, to be honest. ID-COOLING is not consistent either about what the TDP of this CPU cooler is - on their website it's listed as a 250W TDP cooler, but the actual box for the product states it's a 220W cooler. Reasonably, it's wiser to assume the latter (220W), and in my stress tests of this cooler I think that figure is evidenced. Looks-wise, this cooler is fantastic, it's not too flashy but also looks advanced, orderly and neat. The ARGB fan included works very well and maintains colors excellently in my experience (using it with a Razer Chroma ARGB controller-hub). At the end of the day though, I am definitely now a fan of the SE-226-XT. Cools hot high-end CPUs well and looks fantastic too! ... show more

  • Works well for my i5-12600K, once the CPU flatness issue was fixed
Color: NON-ARGB
This cooler received good reviews and is a great price, so I gave it a try on my i5-12600K build. At first, I was disappointed. Idle temps were fine, but under Prime95 testing or Handbrake use, temps were getting up 94 degrees C. (Case is Lian Li o11 air mini with 2x140 fans in front, 1x120 fan in back.) I wasn't pleased. Tried remounting the cooler, but only saw a degree or two difference. Then I read about the Intel 12th gen CPU warping issue caused by the ILM. I purchased a JEYI mounting frame (from Amazon), replaced the ILM with the new frame, and remounted the 226-XT cooler with Arctic MX-2 paste. I couldn't be more pleased. Under full load, the CPU temps dropped 10-12 degrees. With an appropriately flat CPU, the 226-XT keeps my i5-12600K temps down to 76 degrees under stress tests and Handbrake use. I'm now happy with the cooler. As far as installation goes, make sure to get a long phillips screwdriver before you mount the cooler, as others have already pointed out. I can't fault the cooler because of higher temps caused by the Intel CPU ILM mounting issue. Once that was fixed, the cooler met my expectations. Recommended. ... show more

  • 12700K + this cooler = idle temps @ 75-80F
Color: NON-ARGB
Update 1/15/22 Still holding its ground with temps. After a couple of months I have a better idea on how this performs and it performs better than the FUMA mentioned below. @ $50 this thing is build like a tank and temps are kept in check. The most intensive task the CPU sees though is video transcoding for a minute or so and the temps might hit 130F max for a few seconds while the fans tamp up. I slipped an IC Graphite pad between the cooler / CPU instead of wasting time on paste since I had done the same on the 8700K a while back. The graphite pads work just as well as any paste and don't require all of the mess if you want to swap coolers or need access to the CPU later on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I took a leap on this since my FUMA 2 required an upgrade kit that they wouldn't provide w/o a fee. I decided to rebuild my server from a 8700K >> 12700K and was debating between something like this cooler or going liquid. Well, I don't really like the idea of fluids and electronics being mixed together so... The only thing that was a bit of a PITA was the screwdriver you need and is not included needs to be 6 inches to fit down the hole in the fins to reach the screws to clamp it down onto the CPU. I ended up hitting WM and picked one up for $2 but, that sort of thing should be included in the package if you have a 1-off design to tighten things down. I haven't been able to push the new 12700K too much at this point but will do some more testing on the setup and report back if things go haywire with the temps. Since this and the FUMA are so alike I expect there to not be much of an issue. The FUMA kept things under 130F under an extended load and this at idle is actually ~10F lower. It's sturdier in design as well. The approach makes it feel solid compared to the FUMA in that the tower is solid instead of split w/ room for a fan in between and the fins don't have that flex feel to them as much. I didn't bother using the fan included so I can't say how the noise is on that. I used the Arctic P12 PWM PST fans instead from the prior build since they're extremely quiet and you can use a single fan header since they plug into each other in a daisy chain configuration. The PST feature is really helpful when you're working with limited headers for power. Overall though this thing keeping idle temps @ 5F from ambient is a good deal @ $50 vs paying $100+ for other setups. Save yourself the premium that other setups are charging and get the same or better cooling for less cash. I run my server 24/7 as a router / switch / wifi / firewall / NAS / DVR / HTPC / etc. and cooling is important to keep things running smoothly. For the case I went with a "Meshify 2" which has ample 140mm fans spots for breathing and installed 5 of them for intake and 1 for exhaust as well as 2 on the cooler itself. ... show more

  • excellent cooler beat my expectations
Color: NON-ARGB
I never leave reviews, but this was better than i expected and somewhat easy to install. As everyone else states, the only drawback was buying a #2 6" screwdriver. Took away from the excitement of getting this in the mail. The cooling is excellent, impressive, and fits in my case.
