I recently got my hands on the ICECO VL45 Portable Refrigerator with SECOP Compressor, and it's been a game-changer for my outdoor adventures. Here's why I think it's worth every penny: Impressive Performance: This fridge is a beast. Pre-cooling the contents before loading is key, as it performs best that way. Whether plugged into AC power or your vehicle's DC outlet, it chills quickly. Plus, when connected to a portable power station, it's remarkably efficient. I never had an issue with running out of power on my deep cycle battery on a 4 day trip. Sturdy and Thoughtful Design: The all-metal construction gives it a robust feel, and the compressor operates quietly. The lid features a wide rubber gasket and secure locking hasps, ensuring a tight seal. The controls and plugs are on the same end, there is another model that has an additional plug on the other side which would be a bonus for loading into a car or truck differently. Temperature Precision: While it may run a few degrees above the displayed set point, it holds the temperature consistently. I found that setting it slightly lower than desired keeps contents at the perfect temperature. In summary, the VL45 is a game changer for me on the go Overlanding. This all metal Iceco VL45 is sturdy and well made. Compressor works great and quietly. The sturdy lid with a wide rubber gasket and positive locking hasps, as well as steel the carrying handles make this a great addition to my gear. All the controls and ventilation are on one end allowing me to maximize space without compromising proper air circulation. After much testing it always stays within two degrees F either way of what I've set it on and it gets cold from a normal start quickly. Since I often use this with a solar generator I was very happy with the low wattage draw. Everything about this fridge/freezer is a keeper for me. I have only one suggestion for the prospective buyer. That is to use a quality silicone clear caulk around all of the inside metal edges on the interior of the unit before use. The inside metal is a great fit and looks great too but if you were to spill some liquid inside the unit there really isn't anything to keep that liquid from slowly seeping out of the storage compartment or just having an accumulation of crude in those tight bottom corners. That step took me five minutes to complete and wipe downs and clean-ups of the storage compartment are now so simple. For me this purchase was worth every penny. I purchased this ol girl (VL60D) just under 2 years ago. During that time, it has spent its life beside me, as somewhat of a sentinel, in my van. Constantly watching over my nourishment, keeping my food fresh and my drink cold. It does it’s job well. Fitting everything I ever wanted and doing so without draining my batteries. What a great product! Really, what a great friend. Unfortunately, it’s Achilles heel was the heat. This model seems to have some malfunctions when it starts to get hot out. I’m talking 95+ degrees. This is where the absolute gold standard of customer service and warranty come into play. I started having some issues with mine and messaged the Iceco team. Within a day or two they had resolved my problem. Working with me to get a brand new unit sent out to replace the malfunctioning one at no expense to me.     • Efficient off grid option

My family has lived off grid for the last 3 years and has broadened our knowledge of available products. I heard about ICECO from a friend who does a lot of off roading and camping and decided to buy one after doing some research and comparisons with other manufacturers. We bought it in July of 2021 and its not almost been 2 years using it full time in our fifth wheel, that never moves. Although it is not ideal for full time use and has less space than a traditional full time residential fridge, it is very efficient with the eco mode but also because - in my opinion - the top-open chest design. Cold air does not escape as you open it, unlike a typical vertical standard fridge door when it is opened allows more outdoor/ambient air to pass through to inside the fridge, where the chest style does not allow cold air to escape as easier. I also think that the insulation in this product is very good, since I on occasion work with insulation in my business I am familiar with the importance of proper insulation so I can tell that this product keeps everything insulated very well. The structure of the exterior is also very well made. The customer service is just as important to me, and recently the compressor went out. The customer service promptly instructed me what they needed me to do and after I followed their instructions, including a video, they offered me a replacement device. And even though I have not received the device yet, I am impressed so far with their customer service and look forward to sharing my experience about this product as well as the customer service experience more in depth in the future. ... show more
