This is a thick, wide-covering garment. I haven't used the pockets, but all the sewing and construction is very good. It covers past my sides (I wear a size 4 or 5 pants) and the ties stay put. I love being able to wipe my hands after washing them instead of the family hand towel. It also makes me *feel* more domestic as I cook--if that helps any--for me it does. This is a pretty, minimalist apron perfect for when you want protection, but you don't need or want to cover up your top. It's great for wiping your hands on, and the pockets could be useful, though that would depend upon what you are doing. The apron is of course good for cooking, but it could be good for so much more.
