  • Working most of the day; behind feels fine.
Size: Ultimate
Yes, it’s a bit pricy. But it’s so much cheaper than a new chair, and it really works. We did a lot of comparative research between chair cushions. Most of them simply go flat within an hour, and never come back. The knock-offs for this brand and design do not have the same structure. As most reviewers say, it does take a little while to get used to, but boy, it’s worth it! Five or six hours of work without pain. Supportive and airy. Everything it claims to be, which is a nice surprise. Every body type is different, though, so I’d recommend giving it at least a week to try out, and adjusting your chair or car seat to a different height for where your weight will rest. It might save your butt! ... show more

  • Fantastic for Recliner!!
Size: Ultimate
Okay, sorry this is so long, but I'm going to compare the Ultimate to the Purple Royal, RoHo, and Purap for a recliner and computer chairs. I hope it will save someone from having to buy a bunch of different cushions for trial and error. I bought the above cushions for my leather Lazyboy recliner because the seat cushioning has flattened over the years, but the recliner itself is still great. The Purple Ultimate is THE ABSOLUTE BOSS in a recliner. I sometimes do embarassingly long movie marathons on my days off, and can legit sit for 12+ hours with the Ultimate cushion. I have tried both an air filled RoHo and a Purap cushion in the recliner. Neither came close to the Ultimate. The Royal would probably work in the recliner, but I haven't bothered to try it because the Ultimate is just that good. My Purap was passably comfortable for about 8 hours in the recliner, but got destroyed because it couldn't hold up to the punishment of extended couch surfing sessions. I fear the same is probably true of the RoHo. The Ultimate cushion is amazing for this purpose. Now let's talk computer chairs. I have lumbar, tailbone, and restless leg issues when I sit too long without the proper "cushioning" or alignment, so I use a Humanscale Freedom computer chair. Now keep in mind that the Freedom chair is highly ergonomic, which might make cushions act a little differently because it forces you to sit upright and aligned over the top of your hips (it's way more comfy than it sounds). This chair has a comfortable, but "hard" seat that slopes in the front where your thighs sit. I am also talking about extended sitting with only getting up to go to the restroom (e.g., extended computer gaming session). The RoHo cushion absolutely slays all other competition in a hard seat computer chair. I have been able to work all-nighters on the RoHo without any significant discomfort. The Purap was okay in my computer chair for about 4 hours (but would probably be fantastic in a wheelchair or softer computer chair). The Purple Ultimate was okay for about 5 hours, then the restless legs kicked in...I think it's because there is no downward sloped edge where your thighs sit. My lumbar still felt great though, so I guess it depends on what symptoms you're trying to minimize. The Purple Royal is definitely the 2nd best for my computer chair, but restless leg starts to kick in at about 7 or 8 hours. So, if you are looking to cushion a seat that doesn't have much give, go with a RoHo air filled cushion if you sit for very long periods and your chair forces you to sit upright/have decent posture. Go with the Purple Royal if you have a hard seat and sit for very long periods but do lots of stand up breaks OR sit for medium-long periods without breaks and sit with upright posture. The Royal would probably also work in a hard chair if you sit for very long periods, but with more slumped or relaxed posture (e.g., aren't sitting right over your hips). If you will be sitting in a "soft" chair, the Purple Ultimate is hands down the winner, no matter how you sit. For long periods in a vehicle, I think the same rules above would apply, but tbh, I haven't actually tried, so am just imagining based off my experiences. I hope this helps! :) ... show more

  • Like Sitting on Nothing
Size: Ultimate
When you get this positioned right it really does help mitigate pain. The material is much different than memory foam. To me, it's more comfortable. I tried about 4 other less expensive options before trying this one and it feels worth it since it helps.

  • Kind of amazing actually!
Size: Ultimate
So, I was a little skeptical that this would be as good as it is, especially for something that costs so much. I work from home 12 hour shifts 3 to 4 nights a week. I was using two fluffy blankets that I put on the seat of my office chair, and even though that helped, I was still having leg pain and my tailbone and booty would be sore by the end of my shift. Tonight has been the first time using the Purple Ultimate and so far a huge difference. I was able to get the Purple during October Prime day so that allowed me to pay $40 less, and even then I didn’t know if I wanted to pay over $100 for a seat cushion. So far I’m glad I did! It almost feels like I’m sitting on a bubble of air. Maybe because of the waffle seat design. I was worried that the Ultimate would be too big for my chair but it fits perfectly. It has an indentation in the back of the cushion to allow your tailbone to sit in. So far no pain on my tailbone, booty, or legs. Two complaints: 1) I still don’t see any reason as to why this thing should cost $150 without a discount. Yes it’s heavy and big, but $150 for a seat cushion full price? Don’t know. 2) This thing literally SMELLS. It has a strong chemical smell and I can smell it while sitting on it. From what I’ve seen that’s a common complaint. Other than those two things not much else. So, there are definitely cheaper waffle seats out there but don’t know how good they are. I gave the Purple Ultimate 4 stars instead of 5 because really it should probably cost more like $75 in all honesty, but since I sit such long hours I was willing to pay a higher price because, well, it’s really saving my butt! UPDATE: I’ve been using this now each night of my 12 hour shifts since I got it and still going strong. That strong chemical smell that I mentioned before disappeared 3-4 days after receiving it, so it isn’t an issue anymore. Even though it was pricey I’d still highly recommend if you’ll be sitting for long times. It really made a huge difference for me. ... show more
