This hydrometer will be used to determine the starting gravity and alcohol concentration in homemade cider, beer and wine. It is well suited for this purpose as long as I don't break it. The instruction sheet is a bit brief, but that's not a problem for me.

I bought this one instead of others because it looked like it was SG only. I don't see well and find triple scales harder to read. It's otherwise fine.

This was the item I wanted and it works great. The packaging was not acceptable. I was surprised it was not broken. There was no wrapping around it and the box was crushed. I can't believe this glass tube didn't even fall out in transit.
