Size: 40 Liter Bag
This growth medium is great for hydro-gardens. I have been using this product for about a year and this is not my first bag, I have ordered from Amazon and bought locally, no difference at all, cost & function are the same.. My first thoughts were that the roots would get smashed with this medium in the Drip Method because it floats in water then sinks down when drained but that was not the case at all, in fact, my root systems were so healthy that they actually ate the medium up so do not expect to reuse for another crop, you will be lucky to find it within the massive root structure. Needless to say, the end result was amazing and I have never seen roots like that before... huge, pure white, and massive in length.. it was something you just don't see with a soil medium. End results were much healthier roots & stalk and a better tasting, yielding & healthier harvest. No disease or pests to battle since most originate or breed in soil. This is the way to go. 4 stars! *If this review helped you either way, could you please leave me a Helpful to let me know? Thanks!* ... show more

  • Not round clay pebbles, basically clay colored gravel. Seriously.
Size: 10 Liter Bag
Nothing against the seller, they are simply a distributor and fulfilled the order. I have an issue with the product itself. I have purchased many different brands of clay pebbles over the years. These are by far the worst brand period. Here is why: The Clay Pebbles are not spherical at all. I basically have a bag of clay colored gravel. I cut my hands on several pieces as I tried to fill the little net pots. That's absurd. There is so little clay baked onto the pebble that more of the burnt clay (the dark part of the rocks) remains exposed. This is not an aesthetic complaint. Clay pebbles were created and are favored by agriculturalists and gardners for a simple reason, they are easily washed and resused. However when the micro-pores on the clay pebbles are exposed, as in this case, the roots cling tightly to the pebbles, making them a permanent fixture in the root system ...without ripping them out. NORMAL round clay pebbles easily fall out when you shake the stalk. These are not re-usable and will have to simply be thrown out. And yah... they look like crap next to normal clay pebbles. You can see in the image I provided, the poor quality, non spherical and mostly black rocks, compared to ACTUAL clay pebbles which should be 99% round. ... show more

  • Fantastic!!!!
Size: 40 Liter Bag
WOW, 40 liters is ALOT! LoL. I have a rather large orchid collection (over 50 plants) I want to change over to these mixed with a little moss. fast shipping, nothing damaged. The bag came in a large box, nothing else. These pellets are not completely round or smooth, EXPECT odd shapes and sizes. The MUST be rinsed before use. I ran mine through water few times and gently rubbed all the pellets together. Right now I'm testing how long it takes to sink at the bottom of a jar, they are floating at the moment. I did re pot one smaller orchid and 💜. These are very light weight meaning....for my delicate orchids roots won't be damaged and will create good air pockets with out sufficating the roots. so far I'm in love...once Used more I will do another update. Update 11/11/16. Been soaking 24 hours still float. This doesn't bother me but others it might. Will buy more if I run out. New pictures of 1 orchid I re potted. Great stuff!!! Update 12/09/16 Ok I forgot about some that where soaking, week later they where still floating! For my use it's fine, but others may not like this. ... show more

  • Love these
Size: 40 Liter Bag
There is a lot of crabbing about these to the point that I wondered if I made a mistake purchasing them. What I found when they arrived was pretty much what was described. Yes, you do have to wash them before use but I actually liked the process. Sometimes people over think things and make it harder than it has to be... I used a dollar store pitcher, the kind that if you turn the lid one way you can strain your drink or if you turn it the other way you can just pour. I opened the bag... used the pitcher lid like a scoop... scooped the clay pebbles into the pitcher... filled with water and pushed them down a few times.... turned the pitcher top to the strain position and drained them... filled it up again and erepeated the process...after draining the second time I filled the pitcher a third time added some dechlorinating stuff to the water because I used my hose for the rinsing... and that was about it... took ten minutes tops... if your doing a lot of these I would still recommend the pitcher for the first two rinses and then maybe a tub for the last soking... I think it's a good product at a good price and no I didn't get paid anything for this review... it is just my personal experience with this product. Thanks L. ... show more

  • 10 liters is quite a bit - good pebbles
Size: 10 Liter Bag
If you are looking for perfectly round pebbles, like on the photo on the bag, look elsewhere. I read the reviews, so I was aware of what I was getting. Most of the pebbles were irregular shaped and looked like odd lava rock, but that does not affect my hydroponics system. I use a combination of hydroton in the bottom of each tier of the system and then in the grow baskets surrounding my roots. I used to grow directly in the tiers, in perlite, but I have always enjoyed hydroton, and this way I also have more control over the root system so that it does not clog my system. I just ordered a 40 ltr bag because 10 ltrs was only enough to make a short foundation in each of the tiers of one system. Since I completely switched over from Perlite this year, I need a lot. I soaked first (see picture of pebbles in the pink tub) and then I drained and strained. Towards the bottom, I strained and rinsed again in the strainer. A lot of mud and residue comes off of these, so be sure to soak and rinse before adding it to your systems. Obviously, I will check pH once I get everything set up for the plants, as I know that having this much hydroton will likely change the water balance, but that is okay. I also used this same brand in an aquaponics system, and I grew strawberries, mint and chamomile successfully. The hydroton did not bother the fish. ... show more
