  • WE LOVED THIS!
Style: Death at the Dive Bar Game
I have a pretty cool mix of friends who are either true crime junkies like myself and/or cops (and their spouses). We are ALL true game junkies and love games of all kinds. Co-op, competitive, mystery solving, deck building, board games, card games, dice games.. you name it we play it! There is always a new game appearing at our table. We also love escape rooms, but during COVID times we haven't been able to do any, so we decided to check this out as a sort of combo of the two! We played with 5 adults and one 12 year old and it took us about 90 mins (we really like to discuss and argue lol). We were very impressed with the materials we were provided, and found the difficulty level to be appropriate. We did use 2 clues at the very end (and we only used 2 because the first one we revealed told us something we were already certain of/paying attention to). Some of us at the table had already arrived at the correct conclusion, but the clue confirmed our suspicions. So, in the end we solved the murder, had a great time as a group AND decided we'd all like to split a monthly subscription box to continue to play in the future. As for replay... well, unless it's been a really long time and you have a bad memory, you're probably not going to replay this. But again, we had a great time and I definitely consider this good value for our money. Especially when you consider comparable options you can't do at your own home and their expense, expense for sitters, travel, etc. We would definitely recommend and this is a great primer to try out the game without having to subscribe (but be forewarned, you may want to when you're done!) PS: The phone number is real. ... show more

  • Fun and just hard enough to challenge you
Style: Death at the Dive Bar Game
Fan of true crime shows? Try being the detective yourself. Hard enough to keep you hooked but not so hard its frustrating. Different types of clues and puzzles. Played many of these and dont find the ranking accurate. All about the same difficulty level.

  • A fun evening!
Style: Death at the Dive Bar Game
This is a fun game for a group of people. You can work in teams which is helpful because you really have to be in the mood to think and read a lot of background, evidence info. Not a great game if your group isn't interested in anything that involves a lot of thinking or writing clues down. That is the only downside. But if they are primed for a mystery solve it case, it is fun!! ... show more

  • Awesome at home murder mystery!
Style: Death at the Dive Bar Game
After doing a few really terrible at home escape rooms, I found Death at the Dive Bar and it was absolutely amazing! The other at home escape rooms were terribly difficult. And I want to say me and my well seasoned escape room friends aren't very bright, but the clues were impossible to figure out without guidance! The story was good but the game would jump from A to M and it made no sense how it got there. The website for hints was difficult to navigate and overall, it was more frustrating than fun. That said, Death at the Dive Bar was like a breath of fresh air! The story was good and we managed to figure it out while only needing one tiny hint. The website to get the hints was also very straight forward, though the password to get into it was super annoying (try a zero instead of an o). The instructions were well written, as was the story. What really stood out about this set were the clues! They were all printed on different types of materials so it felt real! Newspaper clippings, bar menus, bags, legal documents.. It was very well made! They didn't skimp on the materials! My friends were also impressed. The entire thing probably took us (2 people) about 1-2 hours, but we were taking our time admiring over everything. We definitely had fun! Even better was that nothing needed to be ripped when going through it so I was able to box everything up and hand it to my other friends for them to try. (They also really enjoyed it) 10/10 absolutely would recommend! I hope this same company makes more! ... show more

  • Great for a chill night at home
Style: Death at the Dive Bar Game
This game was way more fun than I thought it was going to be. I knew that it would be fun, but it exceeded our expectations ten fold. It's a play at your own pace kind of game, so having to take a break to let the dog out or grab a snack or just get up to stretch your legs is totally no problem and you'll be able to pick up where you left off pretty easily. It came with clear instructions and an inventory list so you could make sure you have everything you need before starting the investigation. The game time says 45 to 60 minutes, however, it took us quite a bit longer just casually playing. I'm going to guess it took about two hours, but of course that included a couple breaks. You'll solve ciphers, establish a timeline, and organize evidence to solve the case. The only downside that I can see to this game is that the outcome will always be the same, so you can really only play it once. That being said, the three of us that played definitely all agree this was the most fun we've had playing a new game in a very long time. I listed it on my local Facebook marketplace so that maybe someone else can enjoy it as much as we did. We will definitely be ordering more of these. 10/10. HIGHLY recommend if you're into puzzle games. ... show more

  • Such a fun date night!
Style: Death at the Dive Bar Game
Let me start with the fact that my husband and I have two kids and no village. We decided to start planning elaborate themed date nights at home, and I have heard about Hunt a Killer and knew this was going to make for a fabulous date night. I set up the basement like a 1940’s detective office (including fake cigarettes) and my hubby and I dressed up. The Hunt a Killer box was absolutely so much fun! The evidence is high quality, believable, and just enough information to solve the crime. It tools us about 1.5 hours (the code cracking took some time, but so worth it!) I can’t wait to buy the next box and do it all over again! Yes, it’s a play once game, but for $25 it’s worth every dollar. This is not a cheapie feeling game. We had just so much fun! If you’re looking for a fun date night or friend night, this game is fabulous! ... show more
