Features

  • 1,000 SQUARE FEET PER ROLL: Our insulation foil roll measures 250 feet in length and is four feet wide. This gives you 1,000 square feet of insulation per roll. Studies have shown that aluminum reflective barrier can result in a noticeable temperature drop in your home during the summer. It can also help reduce cooling costs by 10% depending on your climate region.
  • HIGHLY REFLECTIVE: >97% Reflective Value. Double-sided and tear-resistant, our foils material is highly reflective to reflect radiant heat rather than absorb it. The industrialized strength foil is remarkably thin to the touch. It is designed to withstand heavy handling without tearing, puncturing, or overly wrinkling. Cuts easily with utility scissors so you can install it properly with ease with no special tools or protective equipment required.
  • EASY TO MAINTAIN: It is non-toxic and does not promote the growth of fungi or bacteria nor does it provide nesting support for rodents or insects. Works for both new and pre-existing buildings. The material is unaffected by humidity and climate changes so no further maintenance is required upon installation. This insulation foil is a superior alternative to bulky insulation such as foil-faced bubble wrap.
  • ASTM COMPLIANT: Meets the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) fire and smoke safety requirements of most state and local building codes, as well as the breathability standards for building materials. Class A/ Class 1 fire rating. E2599 fire code, radiant sheet barrier classification (C1313), FIRE/SMOKE (ASTM E-84). Meets breathability requirements for building materials (ASTM 96-00).
  • SIMPLE HANDLING: Although our reflective roll insulation is strong and mighty enough to properly assist in insulating your desired area, it is also light enough for perfectly easy installation. All help, no hassle.

  • Great Stuff, 1st class product
Update 1 Oct 2024: Discovered an issue potential buyers should be aware of; roof leaks. I was waiting for temps to cool before resuming my attic work and Hurricane Helene’s outer rain bands reached us making for much cooler, wetter weather. I noticed some black spots on the underside of the roof decking in areas I had not yet covered. Each black spot was a wet area where a nail holding a shingle had worked loose allowing rain water to seep in around the nail hole. Not the fault of the product, but I never thought about the possibility of a roof leak. I had to remove quite a few staples to lower the material enough to get an inspection camera in to check. Hope this helps! This barrier product has exceeded my expectations. This is a true perforated, laminated aluminum faced and backed product with a very, very strong scrim. This is not the potato chip bag metalized Mylar film stuff that tears when you look at it. No comparison. This Houseables branded product is imported from you know where but put your concerns to rest; this is top shelf material. I am in the middle of installing 2K linear feet of the barrier and stopped to post my findings. 1. Easy to handle as it is a heavy gauge material that doesn’t rip. About as thick as 4 sheets of heavy duty grilling type Reynolds’s Wrap. 2. Cuts super easy with scissors. You can use a box cutter, but I found scissors much easier. 3. Easily tacked up with 1/4” or 3/8” staples. The foil has some rigidity and that’s a good thing. 4. Heavy weight. A full box is more than 31 pounds. You will want to pre measure pieces in a comfortable place, roll em up and take ‘em to the attic to install. I noticed a significant reduction in the attic as I was putting the stuff up. Outside temp had been 70-72 F but cloudy. Attic temps were 80-85 F. Then the sun came out and attic temps shot up to 105 F in less than 30 minutes. As I was lifting up the 1st sheet, I could feel the heat reduction on my face. It was significant.. When I finish the job, I’ll update but for now, I’m happy as a hog in the mud. ... show more

  • Incredible Product - EVERYONE should use it.
Let me start out by saying this stuff is absolutely amazing! I DID NOT think we would get such drastic results. We are temporarily occupying a 3,750 square foot warehouse building for a project office. This building has a very high arched ceiling with open rafters and exposed 2x12 roof joists. The asphalt shingles are black. No insulation up there at all, the underside of the roof plywood is exposed. Prior to installing this radiant barrier, we were running two 8-ton Air Conditioning units nonstop. From noon on, we were getting temperatures of 130-140 degrees up in the rafters, with the huge air conditioners running as high as they could. They surface of my desk was 100 degrees. Does that paint a picture for our situation before finding this product? I ordered this radiant barrier and we began stapling it to the underside of the roof joists. This product is extremely easy to work with and very durable. I kid you not, you could feel a very noticeable difference standing underneath an area with the barrier and and area without, it is insane. As we progressed, the building temp started to drop and drop. Right now, we have 85% of the roof area covered in radiant barrier and the highest part of our rafters has not seen temperatures above 80 degrees. That is a 50-60 degree difference! We only need one air conditioner now and it only runs sporadically as it should. Let me remind you this is without insulation between the joists. This product is amazing and I'd recommend it for everyone. I will line the attic of my house this weekend and use it under the roof of every single dwelling I ever occupy in the future. I am very surprised that local building codes don't require it already. I give it 250 thumbs up. ... show more

  • Thick, heavy duty.
Stuff is thick, like heavy duty aluminum foil doubled or tripled over. Not easy to tear so if you do staple it where you didn’t mean, just pull on it to try again. Of course working with something that thick has its challenges as well. In tight spaces, it can be unwieldy to work with. I used a miter saw to cut it in half while still rolled, nice straight cut all through it and I don’t have to worry about a wavy cut doing it by hand. Overall it’s installed and 2 months later i’m still looking for a difference in my bill. Can’t really tell. However, when in the attic, you can feel the heat placing your hand near it, moving a foot or so away, the heat dissipates. Going to a none applied section of the roof you can tell the heat penetrates straight through, so I would say it’s doing something. The idea behind our purchase was to keep the a/c ducting in the attic cooler, therefore making the a/c not have to work so hard cooling hot pipes before reaching the dwelling areas of the house. With proper technique this stuff is easy to apply, after crawling around on my back long enough, trial and error, a short crash course from a pro and an immeasurable amount of sweat, it’s too bad I only needed to do my attic. ... show more

  • Reduced the Radiant Heat in My Attic
Installed the radiant barrier in my attic and noticed an immediate difference. During installation I checked the temperatures of the attic roofing on a sunny day. The wood sheathing without the radiant barrier was 137 degrees, and the area covered by the radiant barrier was 93 degrees. My HVAC was able to keep the set temperature through days with 115 degrees heat index, something it couldn't do last year without the barrier. I also appreciate the need for a radiant barrier more now. When I was taking temperature reading with my infrared thermometer I could feel the radiant heat on my face when standing under the uncovered roof sheathing, and, the area under the radiant barrier was noticeably cooler. I rec getting a battery powered staple gun, I used over 2,000 staples and it was much easier to just pull the trigger. ... show more
