Description

This hose sleeve kit is designed to fits vacuum hoses with 27-36mm dust extractor hose. One benefit of the hose sleeve is that it protects your work piece from damage as the hose is pulled over it. It also allows you hose to slide over objects with ease. If you so choose, you can install the cord inside the hose sleeve so that you have one easy to manage unit when using you tools. Sleeve will need to be trimmed to length after it is installed on the hose. The amount of sleeve that you have to trim off will be partially effected by whether or not you install the cord inside the sleeve.

  • 5 stars for the product, 1 star for my idiocy with installation.
Great Product, Took about 20 minutes to get it all installed and setup. If doing it again, I bet I could get it done in 5-10 minutes as there are a few tips and tricks to get it on a little faster. I'll include them since it can be helpful to get hints/tips/tricks from other users. Much slicker than the corrugated festool tubing so it does slide more easily over workpieces once installed. This is a far cheaper solution than the festool option and I think it manages to achieve the same objective. I use a festool dust deputy so needed cord to exit a bit early from the hose cover, but it wasn't an issue, just take that into consideration when setting exits of the hose and plug from the hose cover. Tips: 1. Disconnect both reducing hose end fittings. 2. Slide the hose cover over the Plug it plug first if planning to install them together and have it maybe 2 inches in front of hose. 3. Insert hose once Plug it plug inserted. 4. Slowly 'milk' both hose and plug it plug through, should go easily if plug it plug head it in front of the hose. 5. Use included PVC tape to secure the frayed hose cover ends, they actually include some nice PVC electrical tape to secure the ends. 6. ONLY slide the shrink wrap on after securing the ends of the hose cover with PVC tape, make sure all frayed ends are secured under the PVC tape or you'll never be able to slide the shrink wrap over the hose cover. Don't worry if the hose cover frays significantly at each end, that is easily brought back under control by the included PVC tape. 7. Apply heat to the shrink wrap (heat gun, blow dryer). BE VERY CAREFUL with this step as I got distracted by my wife while holding the blowdryer over the shrink wrap and slightly warped my pretty and expensive 27mm festool hose. Doh! Luckily, I returned my attention to the hose before it was irreversibly destroyed. It's still perfectly functional, but not as pretty. :) Of note, before installation completion, you may want to test lengths of cord and hose exposed on various festool machines you may own to make sure that they all fit with the amount of cord and hose allowed outside of the hose cover. ... show more

  • Leave a full inch
Works well, but directions should be updated to leave the mesh end further back from the end of the hose. when I installed mine 1/2-3/4" (per instructions) from the hose end. The clip ring needed to push back on the heat shrink tubing and caused it to buckle. not the end of the world, but it does also keep the screw on fitting from being able to fully bottom out and Ive had it come undone already. I'll pull the mesh/heatshrink back and try again. And I'll leave 1" or more to the hose end on my second hose. ... show more

  • Only will work with small Festool hose.
I bought this to use on my Rockler 1 1/2” hose which has large ribs. It did not fit. I did however use the shrink tubing. The quality is pretty good though.

  • works but
The sleeve works well but a bit of a pain to get it to stay in place. I have fixed it several times, retaped it, etc. and it keeps coming off with use.

  • Easy install, feels like it costs more than it should.
Very easy install, good instructions and all the parts are cut to fit. for a quick fix this works great. No hang ups either, it makes the hose glide over everything. 40$ seems steep to me. I was looking at making my own kit but got lazy and just bought this one. I have 4 other hoses and in the future would just couple the dimensions of this kit and buy the covers/ shrink tape in bulk. ... show more

  • Can't recommend
Good idea, poor execution. This is barely functional, I suppose. The braided synthetic material is very thin, not very durable, and prone to tearing. I have a hole in mine after an hour of use after catching a 90 degree corner of a jointed board. The 27 mm Festool hose starts to flare about halfway to the dust extractor. As the hose enters the fitting for the extraction unit it's much larger than 27mm and consequently the heat shrink has no chance of fitting over a Festool hose and cord to complete the wrap. Mine is completed with good electrical tape where the included shrink won't fit. Oh well, I really should take it off and return for a refund, but I have too much time into this to start again. I'll make due. ... show more

  • Great Product and Outstanding Customer Service
Great product! In my case the hose for my Festool CT36 was a few feet longer than anticipated. A few emails later Don at Dakota Tool sent me what I needed including heat shrink. Install is straightforward and I finished it in less than 20 minutes. I no longer have a problem with the ribs on the hose hanging up on the bench or anything else for that matter. Great upgrade to your Festool hoses, making them easier to manage and extending the life of the hose. Great customer service tops off the whole experience. ... show more

  • Nice kit, but not worth the money
Had I known ahead of time that this was just PET expandable braided sleeving (also sold here on Amazon), I would've bought a roll of that instead of paying a premium for this kit. I tossed the shrink wrap sleeves that were included in this kit but did use the supplied electrical tape, as it felt nicer than the tape I had on hand. This kit is easy to use (5 stars) and easy to install (5 stars) but value for the money is low (1 star). You don't need this kit for your vac hose. Just buy the sleeve elsewhere and use your own electrical tape to secure it. ... show more
