We purchased this for him because it claims to be so heavy duty and will last for a long time.     • Keeps my cattle dog self entertained for a long time!

I have an energizer bunny of a dog. He's an Australian Cattle Dog (red heeler) with all the energy and instincts of a herding dog combined with uncanny smarts. ANYTHING that gets him engaged and *self-entertained* is a big win in our house. This toy is absolutely his favorite. The handle makes it easy for him to carry, and it also makes the ball roll erratically. He "herds" it all over the back yard, occasionally grabbing the handle for some shaking action. He can play by himself for up to 30 minutes with just this one toy! This is a gift from the Gods! We are now on our second ball. The first lasted a good 5 years, but the handle got chewed up by a visiting friend. Sherman still plays with the injured ball, but we ordered him another for Christmas. Despite living outside in full sun, year round, the ball has held up amazingly well with ony a bit of sun fade. It has many many tooth puncture marks in it, but that has not affected it's shape nor durability. If you have a crazy active dog, this could well be the best toy you'll ever purchase other than a barrel of tennis balls. ... show more

    • Not durable enough for my Doberman dogs

If you have large size furkids or agressive chewers this ball isn't for them. I have two Doberman who LOVE playing with soccer balls and/or basket balls outside. Only problem, either the air deflates or one of them gets a good grip and bites a hole in the ball. Figured this would be made out of strong enough plastic to hold up against my furkids agressive playing. Nope! Not only did it dent into one side after being tossed just a few times, it never recovered. Making this "ball" an awkward object to throw and no longer bounce. Furkids started to bite the crooked side and then it was game over. Not worth the money, even if it's cheaper on Amazon then Petsmart. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. We originally purchased the smaller ball as a pasture toy for our donkey, but when we adopted this little spitfire…. she nabbed it! She wrestles it, chases it, throws it, and chews the heck out of it. When the handle finally started to become just barely hanging in, we ordered her a new and bigger ball, the 10”. It is by all means her favorite chew and play toy and worth every dime! This is our 2nd one so I’m sure we will be buying again. ... show more

    • My 70-lb miniature canine "pony" loves his horse balls

I am no chemist and do not know what secret ingredient the manufacturer puts in these balls but whenever my dog grabs it by the handle, he turns into a miniature horse. He runs around prancing like Mick Jagger, bucking like a Bronco and shaking it like a possum. I swear they must put some horse-nip in the rubber material. That is at least my conspiracy theory for the week. The handle itself is very sturdy but I wish I could say the same about the rest of the ball. The walls of the sphere (fancy word for a ball) are pretty thin and do not last more than a few weeks. They get chewed through faster than we expect and then we gotta buy a new ball again. We think we can teach our dog a lesson by giving him a timeout and leaving him with his deflated ball as punishment. But it usually blows up in our faces instead when he starts chewing on the rubber and ends up with only half a ball within another week or two. At which point we break down, give in and buy him a new ball, like all whipped parents. But we claim it is for "safety" so that he does not accidentally swallow any of the rubber pieces he rips off the ball viciously as if he's skinning a squirrel or plucking the neighbor's rooster. (don't ask) So if I could ask one thing of the manufacturer: please consider making tougher ballz for tougher dogs. I realize these are "technically" intended for horses but c'mon, you know very well how badly your "horse balls" are mis-used and mis-treated. You cannot claim ignorance on this one. So be the bigger man and manufacture tougher ballz for our tougher dogs. I don't care if you tested your product on animals. But I'd have to surmise y'all used only Yorkies or some other Chihuahua-like breed. Please make the ballz for real dogs. If you need a test subject, I volunteer our miniature "horse". He will gladly chew your ballz into oblivion. And your Chihuahuas too. He loves Mexican food for breakfast. LMK if interested in my testing offer. Till next time ... ... show more

I bought this for my dog who isn't a massive chewer. Within a day she had a hole in the ball. The good part is it is still usable. However, I believe it will soon be in pieces. Therefore, it's a good product but probably won't last very long.
