  • So good for singles & small households
Size: 2 Pound (Pack of 1)
I ordered my first container in December & have just now had to re-order. Being single and not much of a milk drinker, I was wasting too much money and time, throwing out milk or trying to find ways to use it once it "turned". Milk is something that I use for baking, topping cereals, and adding to beverages. My brother has a larger household and I recommended this to them because they just don't have room to store enough liquid milk for the kids. PROS: - Is easier, less messy, and takes up less room to freeze sealed packages of this powder - The milk from this powder truly does taste like store-bought whole liquid milk (letting it get really cold adds to this) - Super easy to use. 3 TBL of powder to a cup of milk works (I will add more measurements below) - Has been a serious money-saver for me. CONS: - This is hard to mix unless you use warm water first. It's easiest to warm a small part of your water measurement and blend all of the powder measurement before adding the rest of the cold water. If I do use cold water, I use my stick blender to mix the water and powder. - The taste is fine as first blended but kids probably want it chilled really well before adding to milk or to drink a glass. I have learned to make up a few cups ahead of time so that it's well-chilled. On the other hand, for baking, room temp is fine. - You have to remember to blend some up if you don't want room temp milk at the last minute I tried other water-to-powder ratios but here are some measurements that work best for me (I got them from a survival prep site somewhere): 1 Cup water + 3Tablespoons powder 3/4C + 1/4Tbls 2/3C + 2Tbls 1/2C + 1 1/2Tbls 1/3C + 1Tbls 1/4C + 3/4Tbls When I am adding milk to beverages, I don't have to be as precise as I am with baking. Another tip that I picked up from growing up is that adding a dash of salt (to a gallon) of milk helps keep if fresh longer. I have not tried that with this powdered milk but wanted to pass along the mention. I seal my powder in vac-seal bags. Just for more convenience, I will seal some of the milk in measured sizes - like enough powder for a quart or for 2 cups. That saves me time when I am in a hurry and have forgotten to make up milk ahead of time for cereal or a drink. ... show more

  • Doesn’t bother my stomach!
Size: 2 Pound (Pack of 1)
I am lactose intolerant, or maybe just intolerant to whatever they do to store bought gallon milk... I bought this milk to use for bath bombs but I ran out of almond milk one stormy day and I had a hankering for a latte. I used this milk knowing that I was going to do myself in... but nothing happened... crazy. So I’m not sure if this will be the case for everyone but I love making lattes in the morning with this milk. I also love using it in my favorite recipes... no problems yet! Latte or Cafe con Leche Put hot water into a blender, I use my vitamix, add two tablespoons of powdered milk, a teaspoon (or more) of instant coffee (reg or decaf), a teaspoon of sugar (I use powdered), blend and enjoy on a cold day. ... show more

  • Inconsistent product quality was a real disappointment to our family
Size: 2 Pound (Pack of 1)
We started buying this for a shelf stable option. The first two shipments tasted great. The milk was creamy and pleasant tasting. We could hardly tell we were drinking powdered milk. We mixed up a batch with room temperature water and then put the milk carton in the fridge. It dissolved wonderfully. The recommended ratio of powder to water was a little too much... so we made small adjustments to accommodate our flavor preferences. The milk was consumed regularly; so much in fact that we kept ordering. The next two batches were absolutely awful. It was almost as if the milk used to create the powder was already rancid. It was truly terrible, unpleasant, and no manner of ratio adjustment could remedy the awful taste. Seems like there are product inconsistencies with production. This is not something we can tolerate since this is a "premium powdered milk." We would like to get our money back... or at the very least a replacement for our order. There is apparently no option through Amazon to get our money back or replacement for the rancid powdered milk. Who knew this would be an issue with a shelf stable product. It actually went bad. Just when we were saying the praises of powdered milk to our friends... this happened. We'll have to recant any purchase recommendations. Sorry Hoosier Hill Farm... if there is no way to address consumer dissatisfaction with a spoiled batch... then no one should be buying your powdered milk. ... show more

  • GOOD in The Glass and HALF the Price of Fresh! Midwest prices, coasts save even more
Size: 2 Pound (Pack of 1)
I have hated powdermilk on my life despised it even. However lately I started to wonder if powdered whole milk would be okay and Shazam it's actually good. I mixed some up with water and I also put some straight into some coffee. It was so good in my coffee that I've made a little cream or with some sugar this milk and a little bit of vanilla. I was so impressed with this powdered milk I looked up the organic powdered milk this company mix and if my math is correct when you use their organic powdered milk it comes out to $4 a gallon reconstituted. That's half the price of organic milk in the Midwest. One thing though you're going to want to store this in the fridge. It would be best to keep it away from the light AKA Light Strike and at a consistant cool temperature. This has dairy fat in it, fat exposed to temperature fluctuations and light can quickly turn Rancid. I even discovered a recipe to use this type of powdered milk to make your own Dairy spread. ... show more

  • Terrible barnyard taste
Size: 1 Pound (Pack of 1)
I've been using Judee's Whole Milk Powder, which tastes great. Anyway, I decided to try this brand, given the good reviews and the number of interesting dehydrated products they have. This morning, I did a side-by-side test of this product with the Judee's. The taste of this product is awful. I grew up with horses and cattle and there's a distinct barnyard taste to this, that leaves me wondering about the quality of the milk that went into it. Give it a miss. ... show more
