  • Great little welder!
The welder came in three days! I got home from work and unboxed it and it is a very compact unit. It was packaged very nice. It was very easy to set up. I tried it out on some 1/8" flat stock, mild steel and laid a couple of nice beads with very good penetration set at 87 amps. The welder should be able to handle 1/4" mild steel with no problems in my opinion. It fed the wire through nice and smooth. I also welded a couple of steel legs on a table with really nice results. It does not come with flux core wire but I purchased a 2lb roll of 0.030" wire {Arccaptain, good wire at a great price!} that arrived at the same time. It comes with a good chipping hammer and a separate wire brush that was actually better quality than I expected, unlike the competitors chipping hammer and wire brush combo! I have been welding for years with all different types of welders from many different manufacturers and I'm impressed! The welder also has a small LED light bar above the control panel that lights up the panel knobs and buttons for low light situations. I would recommend the Hone welder to others. There's only two small dings I would give it: that it does not have a reference table for presets and its 110VAC only which I knew at the time of purchase. I will update in the future for durability, Thank you! ... show more

  • Great small MIG welder
Have only used the MIG function so far. I do have a top brand TIG welder that makes me look like a pro but for a quick small job, I'll take the HONE every time. The HONE welder, with my favorite flux-core wire, makes me look like I know what I'm doing:) If you're a beginner, look no further. If you are an experienced welder that needs a light weight machine for lighter work, this puppy won't disappoint. It's not going to be for heavy use. The hammer/brush is a joke so get a nice set if you don't already have them. Ground clamp isn't hateful and does a decent job. The wire gun works fine. Looks like it should hold up if not totally abused. Wire feed and adjustments are work smoothly. Can't find anything to bitch about really. The bottom line it does a very nice job for small jobs. ... show more

  • So far it works ok. Price is good and it does MIG weld
Ok, first off I'm not a trained welder. I do like to try a lot of stuff though. We have an old flatbed trailer that needed reinforcing and needed to weld up the backs on new trailer fenders. I bought this welder primarily to weld the backs of the fenders on. I also have the HONE 185 stick welder that we used for the trailer cross members (3" channel). The 185 is pretty easy to use but can burn a hole in thin metal if you're not careful. Knowing this, I decided to shell out for the MIG. I'm glad I did. There are lots of Utubes on mig welding to learn from. The small wire does work but man you have to go SLOW and build up the welds as you go. Not like stick. It took a lot of patience to take my time and stop every six or so seconds and check the progress. The beauty of MIG is no stick sticking and you can just start up where you left off. I ended up using the MIG for other projects as I liked the pace and the finished welds. The machine showed no problems. The kit that comes with it is all usable. It has a better hammer than the 185 came with. If you're planning to stick weld, get a bigger machine. It's really meant for MIG IMO. ... show more

  • Great welder but if you need replacement parts?
Dislike that it didnt come with the lift tig adapter..and where do you order replacement parts?? Other than that this welder is a very reliable machine..i recommend it to both beginners and veteran welders.synergic welding is especially handy for most beginners who like to go wide open without knowledge for setting wire speed and amperage. I really need some replacement parts though..this can cause unreliability..please reply to this message with a positive answer because buying another welder aint happening. ... show more

  • Versatility is No. 1 for this machine. Stick, flux-core, and TIG (TIG torch not included)
First impression of this welder was good. I have several welders to keep around the property. First photo show the comparison in size with the Titanium flux core welder from HF. It is definitely smaller. The fact that is supports a TIG torch sets this apart though ironically is doesn't come with one (For the price it isnt fair to expect it to). The tip with the shield is helpful for maintaining distance which makes is good for someone learning. The device supports 2 lb flux core wire. It does not have a manual feed button for the wire like the one from HF so be mindful of that when using it for flux core welding; you'll need to press the button on the gun to feed the wire. Pros: Versatility: Support for Stick and Flux core welding out of the box with TIG as a separate upgrade. Power consumption: Provides adequate power for good penetration Controls: You CAN weld thin material with this. Cons: Operation Time: Not for continuous use. Like many of the other 120V class welders these need a cool of time when used with thicker metals. Be mindful of that. If you intend to build anything large or with thicker steel you'll need a 240V machine; I'd say this is suitable for 1/32”-5/16” material as you simply wont get enough power out of a common 120V-20A outlet anyway. Spool components are made of plastic, be careful with them. I haven't had any issues, but just calling it out so you'll be extra mindful when handling the machine. The face plate LCD covering seems a bit bubbled (see photo no 4), this is strictly cosmetic. Photos above show welds made using flux core, minimal spatter. Also note that I already powder coated my project, but you can still see the welds pretty good to get an idea of what this machine can do. Final thoughts: Nice welder to have for smaller projects and as a little tip, if you want to work with aluminum either preheat the metal before attempting any welding or get a TIG torch for the machine (tip size will be 10-25); This welder provides both options. Overall a worthy purchase at a fair price point, even if you never buy the TIG torch. ... show more
