The media could not be loaded. Finally got around to using this big shiny beauty! We farm, and it was our time to host a farming event where different farmers come from different areas for learning & credentialing, which includes feeding about 50 ppl breakfast & lunch, and THIS was the lifesaver! Of course ppl love coffee in the morning, but to keep you going, this keeps your coffee warm all day. Makes so much coffee, but in 5 oz batches, which is important for brewing strength when measuring your coffee & water. It’s quiet, the smell while brewing is wonderful. It has an off/on button as well as a WARM function which is amazing for refills throughout the day! Has a metal coffee ground holder. The only con IMOis the way the metal pole in the center and ground holder align sometimes, doesn’t always mesh on the first try. Besides that, this is great for business events, parties, weddings and any function that you need a warm beverage all day! ☕️🫶🏽 ... show more

    • The biggest urn you can reasonably order, and it works well.
First, a history lesson. For all those who have grown up with a Starbucks Grande being their preferred "cup of coffee," the official measure of a brewed cup of coffee is 5 ounces. When the big blue can o' coffee says to use a rounded tablespoon or two per cup, that makes 5 ounces. This may explain why coffee is so watered down these days, but I digress..... But that Grande cup is actually 3 cups of coffee, and this urn, using that measurement makes 600 ounces of hot water, which is fifty 12-ounce cups, or 37.5 16-ounce cups. Plan accordingly. Back to the coffee maker. It's a 1500-watt unit, so it can get a full urn of water hot, but it will take a while. It brews about 75 (5oz) cups of coffee perfectly without water sitting in the urn basket. To brew that number of cups of really tasty coffee, you'll need about 40-45 ounces of coffee (0.6oz per cup) in the urn basket. Fill the urn with water, add the post and the urn basket, close the lid, and start the batch. Brew time is completed when the yellow light comes on and the urn goes into "keep warm" mode. It should be noted that while some say you can make much smaller batches, it isn't quite as tasty, simply because the urn basket has a much smaller amount of coffee in it. If you need 10 cups, consider using a coffeemaker or Keurig. If you need 100 cups of cocoa in a hurry, pre-heating the water outside of the urn speeds up the process greatly. Otherwise, it will take up to 60 minutes to heat the water from the hot faucet temperature (100F) to 180F degrees, and this is completely normal. It takes time to heat that much mass with 1500 watts. Just budget this much time into your plans. If you are making a hot beverage for a huge group, you will need a ready supply of pre-heated water to avoid running out of the hot beverage. Under huge volume, it makes a perfect dispenser; No coffee urn can really serve 120 cups per hour due to the brew times. Nothing in my review should be interpreted as a negative. I wanted to post all the details about how to live with a percolating coffee urn, as all too many people have never used one and I wanted to set realistic expectations as to quantity and time so that you are completely satisfied with this product. ... show more

    • Not for hard water…
I returned this upon receipt, having realized after ordering, and after it had already shipped, that the hard water of our area was not acceptable for its use. I hope this is helpful for others with hard water.

I ordered this because I host some large events and I needed a large coffee urn/maker and this one does exactly that! I had ordered one that made 30 cups before this one but they tend to measure in 5 ounce cup sizes. This one makes 75 - 8 ounce coffees or 120 - 5 ounce coffee (don't know anyone making a cup that small). To make that many cups of coffee this thing is large! It is almost 2 feet from bottom to top and 15 inches wide. There won't be any missing it on the counter or food line which is a good thing. There are a few things that I like about this coffee maker/urn besides the looks and functionality. 1) It has an on and off button - you would be surprised how many do not. 2) It has a heating and keep warm feature - heating is making the coffee and keep warm so no more cold coffee. 3) It has a water/coffee level indicator right in the front on a clear tube so you can see how much liquid you have left. That is a nice feature. 4) There are NO paper filters with this coffee pot. You just add your coffee grounds to the filter (which is metal not plastic - another plus) and make your coffee. There only thing that I am not a fan of it aligning the filter at the top with the tube that goes to the bottom of the coffee pot. To be fair, most of these larger pots are designed the same way and I am not sure how else it could be done. The serving tap is a pull by hand to serve and it can't be flipped to make it so you push your cup against it to dispense. Overall, this is a great coffee urn/pot/maker and it will definitely supply your event with a lot of hot coffee, water, hot cocoa or whatever other kind of hot liquid you want to provide. It is a little pricey but the quality is there with this one. ... show more
