This bookshelf took myself and a buddy to put together, simply because for a smaller gal like myself, this is pretty hefty lol. We put it together in I'd say 30 minutes. Easy to read instructions, no missing pieces, everything was very sturdy, and it looks very pretty all done !! The one tip I have for potential buyers is to be aware of where the "backing" holes are on your bookshelf arms, so to speak. After "finishing" it, we realized that half of the holes for the backing were facing the other way XD. So we had to unscrew a few, and put it back together and THEN screw on the backing. Then, voila, bookshelf! My favorite feature of this bookshelf is the backing. Although its not the most strong board, having a backing at all was what sold me. Many bookshelf's in this style are sold backless, which was relatively inconvenient for me. Good price and good bookshelf !! ... show more

Not too hard to assemble. Came well packaged and undamaged. It is richer in appearance than I expected at this price point. Screws along the sides are visible but blend in nicely. If that kind of thing drives you crazy you may want to look elsewhere. I chose not to use the safety straps they provided to attach it to the wall to avoid tipping over. I have done many flat pack put together before and this is one of the easiest I've ever done. All simple screws. No funky ways to join it together just straightforward screws. There are front in the back to the metal pieces so be sure you have all of the holes on the correct side. And the top it has a front and a back. The rest of the shelves are so well finished all sides are finished so it doesn't matter which is front and back or top or bottom for the shelves. Both front feet are adjustable so no wiggling. I didn't need to adjust the back feet, I think that they are adjustable but I can't say for sure. Very stable when it goes together no wiggling. I got it together by myself in about an hour. It would definitely be easier and faster with two people probably would take 20 minutes. The back instead of being a flimsy cardboard thing that gets nailed on is actually thicker and get screwed on as well. Super simple to put together. Was well packaged. Arrived with no damage. Shelves are nice thick definitely will hold my books without sagging. Whatever the Finish is on these it does not appear to be thin paper but some sort of hard laminate. It looks like it should hold up well and it looks like real wood. Was also provided with one to two extra screws per type of screw. I didn't need them but it's always nice for that one that the cat helps you lose. This was a great deal. I could not have purchased wood and built one for this price. ... show more

Assembly instructions could have been much clearer (and 'made in China' is no excuse -- there are plenty of folks there who can write clear English). Otherwise it's a nice, functional design with decent materials.

I've bought a LOT of bookshelves over the years - we have a huge library. This shelf is the easiest to put together and the sturdiest one I've ever gotten (and it was on sale under $100 when I got it!). The metal sides make it very stable and the MDF shelves are sturdier than the normal particle board. The back was also a nice thickness, not just flimsy cardboard-like backs you normally get with these products. I gave it a 4 star for 'easy to assemble' because the holes on the back didn't line up with the backing boards on my first try and I had to remove some and flip them around and figure out which ones should go where, but it worked and I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase! ... show more
