  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Not ready for prime time. Won't be putting any window washing humans out of business.
This expensive marvel of engineering is pretty useless for getting your windows sparkling clean. If your windows are dirty, it will make them less dirty. But it won't actually get them clean. Tested this on several dozen large window panes and glass sliding doors in a two story custom house, inside an outside. Ran multiple passes (2-4x) on each pane, first with no water spray then with water spray per instructions. If there is any stuck-on bird or gecko droppings, etc. it will not remove them at all. If there are baked-on streaks it will not remove them. It will generally leave streaks and smudges. It will miss the edges and corners. This model consistently got stuck in the lower right-hand corner and requires manual intervention to prod it to continue. It is slow and can take 20-45 minutes to complete the 2-4 passes, if it doesn't get stuck. The spray is pretty useless and on the outside of the house any breeze will prevent the spray from actually hitting the window. We used plain water or vinegar because the blue fluid shipped with the device contains a very toxic chemical (isothiazolinone) that we didn't want contaminating our organic home and garden. Also, this device sticks to the window by suction from a small vacuum motor and is as loud as a small vacuum. So it is pretty annoying to be in the room with it while it is running for hours. Overall, it was not worth the time to operate it ~ could have manually cleaned all the windows with a squeegee with much better results in a fraction of the time ~ and saved the very expensive price tag. Everyone would love to get housework done by robots for free ~ but this device is not yet ready to replace any competent humans. It is a "window vacuum" not a window cleaner. Should be redesigned and do away with the vacuum mechanism. Three stars just because it is a cool engineering feat but it is pretty useless as a household tool. Definitely returning it for a refund. Maybe if you are very bored and could rent one for the weekend it would be worthwhile. ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars It’s a compromise
I was pretty excited to try this since we have lots of large rectangular floor to ceiling windows. At first it looked somewhat clean but upon closer inspection, it kind of just smeared around the dog nose smudges on glass. Then when the sun shines through the window, the streaks become very apparent. In the photo I attached, the two left most panes have not been cleaned while the others farther right have been cleaned. It’s a toss up because although it’s technically cleaner, the streaks are pretty bad. Going over it multiple times does not change this. The sprayer is the equivalent of breathing heavy to fog up the glass some, also notice it’s off center. It doesn’t disperse a very wide angle, so really about 1/4 of the cleaning path gets this “micro mist”. I tried spraying some window cleaner on the pad and it was marginally better but still streaky. I tried spraying ahead of the robot, but it left even more streaks. You may look at the pad and see black spots and be impressed but they are from the treads. Really only parts of the pad get dirty, like the edges. I think this is why spraying ahead of it doesn’t work, it’s only using a portion of the pad to clean and soon it’s just spreading the same gunk around. For a 4’ x 12’ pane, it takes maybe 15 minutes (I use the 2x button) and it sounds like someone is blow drying their hair. So why do I keep using it? Well, it’s less messy than a bucket and squeegee inside the house (I don’t even bother outside where real dirt accumulates). It’s also better than nothing for really high windows that I cannot reach. I like the concept but you really have to keep in mind that you will not get the results of a true cleaning. ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Depends
During COVID, I do not want to have a window cleaning crew inside my home so I'm looking for a way to do the inside windows myself. We have many, very large (6.5 feet X 10.5 feet) windows along the entire front and back of our house and the inside windows have not been cleaned for over a year. I decided to try this in the hope that it would do the job for me as I'm terrible at cleaning glass but have very high standards on how I like my windows to look. If you are a perfectionist, like me, this will not produce a satisfactory job. It functions well, although slowly, and is quite loud when it's working. I set it up and went to do other things until it beeped that it was complete so I could ignore the slow speed and the noise. I followed the instructions completely and even went further; I dry cleaned the windows twice before doing a wet cleaning with a clean pad and used undiluted HOBOT cleaning solution. I tried every cleaning pattern available. The result would be fine on a cloudy day but on a sunny day, streaks are obvious. I even tried wet cleaning the same windows multiple times with alternative patterns in an effort to get the HOBOT to clean its own streaks but it just wasn't able to do that to my satisfaction. I did not try HOBOT outside and I imagine that would be produce even worse results as the windows are far dirtier outside although they were cleaned professionally only a few months ago. If you're not a perfectionist, this might be fine for you but if you're looking for sparkling, streak-free windows on a sunny day, look for a good squeegee and pole instead. ... show more
