I recently bought these to install in my Dynam PBY Catalina (rc airplane). They’re so cheap it’s hard to say no. The only issue I’ve encountered it that these tend to only want to bend in a direction and if they’re bent in the other direction you have to push past an area of resistance and a click will be heard. This is NOT because the hinge isn’t designed to go in two directions, BUT it is caused by a molding issue. In order to use, I scraped the excess plastic off of them that was left over from there molds, and presto! They worked beautifully. I understand many expect them to work perfect out of the box, but that unfortunately isn’t the case. However if you are willing to take the 30 seconds it takes to scrape the excess off, they’re soooo worth it. ... show more

    • 50% unusable due to poor manufacturing.
50% of these are unusable. The have a pronounced hesitation in the center position that causes servos to bind and over push. Some have no noticable resistance and are ok, but like I said 50% have a very strong resistance and as such are completely unusable.     • Do not buy.
This product should not be sold for people using it in remote control airplane applications. The hinge only works in one direction. If you’re using it to install flaps and you orient the hinge correctly when you install it it will work fine. Otherwise you have to rely on the servo to work past going the other direction and there is a loud click that happens. Do not buy.     • Small, strong, lightweight, easy to install hinge.
Used these to hinge the elevator, rudder and ailerons on my electric pattern plane. I've always preferred the pinned hinges since they arte virtually frictionless and therefore do not increase the load on the servo

    • Good hinge. Removability would be hard, though.
Nice little hinges. I bought them to hopefully be able to remove a control surface on my plane, but I don't think they'll be great for that. It's true that the pin is removable, but it's so small I think assembly in the field would be pretty fiddly. The pin is not a split pin as the description states. It's just a straight pin with one sharply knurled end. The knurled end makes it grab into one of the knuckles of one of the hinge halves, keeping it in place. Seems like they'd work great for applications where you don't need removability. If you have really good access to the hinge area, they might work in removable applications too. ... show more

    • Okay if you want to take each hinge apart and clean up the plastic...
I had to take each and every hinge apart to clean up the plastic between the hinge pieces. There is a plastic tab left over from the molding process that won't let the hinges move smoothly without removing. I will buy a different brand next time.

    • Perfect little Hinges!
Confusing that someone had theirs stuck. All 20 of my hinges are perfect. Looking forward to replacing the tape hinges I have on my foam planes. I hate when tape lifts off goofing up your surfaces trim. I will buy more later.

Almost a great product. The size and weight are perfect, Unfortunately there is a design flaw, Every hinge binds and does not have smooth movement. As the hinge moves there is a loud clicking sound and a noticeable resistance. I would return but have already already installed over a dozen on my plane. Hope it will fly! ... show more
