  • It actually pulse welds aluminum well.
Style: MIG250DP
Anyone who has used pulse mig to weld aluminum knows that other than tig, pulse mig gets the best results. When done properly, it produces a nice convex bead that looks like a machine did it, with proper pre-heating. I was happily surprised when i loaded up some AL solid wire and hooked up the argon, set the machine to the Almg setting, and wouldn’t ya know, this little machine started pulse welding. You can tell the frequency is a bit low compared to my other pulse mig, but it still produced a comparable weld to my big expensive pulse mig machine. I wish there were a way to change the settings a little bit to tweek it, but honestly, right out of the box i got decent results. You won’t find a pulse mig for this price anywhere else, I’ve looked. The only other thing i would like to change is to be able to toggle the pulse on and off in any mode you choose, but it’s only available when in Aluminum mode. Yeah its 250 amps but it wont let you weld higher than 150 amps when you switch to aluminum, but i found it more than adequate to weld 1/8” and 3/16” aluminum. You cant pulse weld steel unless you set it to the aluminum pulse mode, switch to the proper wire spool, and maybe switch to a 75/25 mix(they say steel is best pulse welded at 80% or higher argon, but ive gotten good results with 75/25, so it’s not a big deal.) all that said, it’s worth the purchase if you want to get into pulse mig and don’t have a ton of money to throw at it. Buy this machine, you’ll be happy with it. ... show more

  • Received a defective product, very good customer service
Style: HBM1200
This is by far my worst experience with a new product, I did tried to use it for fluxed core welding, I used the included flux core and 2 more brands but I this thing was defective. The wire feed was too slow, and after a few arcs the flux core got stuck inside the mig gun and won't come out, what a waste of time and money. Edit: Jun-27-2024 The seller contacted me with some instructions guides on what to check to solve the problem and on top of that, the seller offered me to to ask for a refund / exchanged so, this is a good trustworthy seller. ... show more

  • fantastic little welder to start off with!
Style: HBM1200
i love the quality for the price! my toyota needed some frame patching and its an old beater so the bed is long gone and trailer had been welded to the frame in its place. i needed to weld the bed back on and patch the frame, and this little thing did just the trick. with this and some youtube videos the ole yota is on the road again! the only downside is the 220 adapter is specific to a 220 outlet i dont have and dont recall seeing before, so you cant just unplug your stove or dryer and hook this up. also if you buy mig wire its on a spool way to big to fit this machine. but besides that it seems great only time will tell and of everything holds up through the winter ill be giving it 5 stars! ... show more

  • Awesome
Style: HBM1200
Wasn't sure at first with this being as little as it is, but after using this now on a couple of different projects I've been wanting to get done, I have a new look at it. Preforms a lot better than expecting. Easy to read display, and easy to use dials for fine tuning exactly what your looking for with tour weld! Replacing the wife is easy as can be. Light weight and portability were a must have for me and got both with this unit. Though the ground clamp could be a little stronger as I've used it quite a few times now and the clamp has seemed to have warped rather quickly from being such a soft metal base. This hitbox has outperformed a welder of similar stance from Harbor Freight. Would recommend for a very affordable price, probability, and easy to use basis. ... show more

  • Follow the picture for flux-core/MIG, BUT NOT THE WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS.
Style: HBM1200
First thing I did was break the welder because the instructions tell you to plug the grounding clip into the negative terminal. This caused the wire to bunch up in the cable coming from the welder to the gun. Luckily I'm capable enough to take the thing apart and fix it. Then I had the thought to look at the picture, which contradicted the instructions. So I connected the grounding clip to the positive terminal. Then the welder worked fine. I'm not sure if this is better or worse. It's nice that you're not holding the positive in your hand, but then anything touching the workpiece is live. Once you get past the fact that the instructions don't make any sense at all, this is a decent welder for the low price. Just make sure you are very careful setting it up, and do small tests that can't jeopardize the entire system. For your first test welds, don't have the wire come directly out into the workpiece. Let the wire come out, then hit the trigger and move the wire across the workpiece. This way you only glance off the piece if there's no electrical potential. As others have stated, this is really only for flux-core and stick. There's no inlet for gas, so the description is just completely incorrect. ... show more

  • Nice upgrade to an intermediate skill level
Style: HBM1200
I upgraded from an old 110V Chicago Electric 125 MIG gasless wire feed. This tiny welder makes you feel like you know how to weld like a pro after using that Chicago for years. It’s so easy to setup (adjust your feed and voltage) and lay beautiful welds. Lots of power on both the 110V and 220v. Light weight and precise. Love it. The only complaint I have is that the gasless MIG wire pushes through the cable assembly at the connector whenever you accidentally weld your wire to the tip. (Wire sticks at the tip or inside the tip) Not sure if the wire has voltage when exiting there. But You have to take the cable apart at the welder side and remove or pull back the wire and re feed it from inside the welder or at the cable. Obviously a rookie move that I will have to overcome but basically that functionality isn’t as forgiving on this welder as it was on my old welder. ... show more

  • Works great
Style: MIG250DP
I am NOT a welder. I OWN this welder. It does not pop my breakers on 120 v. I stick weld and flux core wire weld. I am a novice and still learning. The instructions are nonexistent/worthless. I have no idea what to do with the 2 setting knobs. I just guess.
