Bought this to weld up a cracked shock mount on my diesel truck, that my 120v mig couldnt do. ran just fine on my 8KW generator, and with 3/32 7014 rod had no issue welding this 3/16 plate. Did some tests on thicker material and did a lap weld with 1/2" steel and it had no problem with it. Have had bad experiences with chinese inverter machines imploding before, but this one seems ok. If you’re just trying out welding and don’t want to commit to buying a decent machine, it is worth the money. That being said: I upgraded to an ESAB Rogue 200i Pro, and it was night and day better. This machine is very okay at most things, but the amperage is nowhere near accurate, and the arc stability is maybe a 2/5. You’ll learn allot using this machine, but if you want to use it as any type of a career, then look into ESAB or Everlast. ... show more

After having this welder for a few months I have to say im fairly pleased. At a $100 price point it performs very well. I have only used on 110 tig welding maxing out on machine amperage and it trips my homes circuit breakers but the welder has never quits ( I was using it on a 15 amp circuit ) With that being said the leads clamps and dinse plug are absolute crap. One of the two dinse plugs would not even fit into the machine and I had to purchase new ones to use the machine. The ground clamp and stinger are not any better and as far as the leads they are copper clad aluminum and supper short. Unitweld would have been better off selling the unit without any accessory. However overall I am very pleased with my purchase and will buy from this manufacture again. ... show more

This little guy really gets the job done at all times. Had it on about 35-40 amps running for at least an hour building custom exhausts and not a hiccup! May need a new electrode holder or ground clamp somewhere during the time period but that’s about it. If anyone can recommend a portable power unit that can handle the amps of this welder for the inconvenient times I’d be forever grateful! Anyhooo don’t hesitate if your like me and wanted to try welding. I’ve made that 100 bucks back more than 10x just having this unit handy. ... show more

Just pulled it out of the box. Honestly wasn’t expecting much, but I am impressed at the weld quality. Welded some 6013 and 7018 rods, and felt pretty good. This is not a professional all day welder, but a fun hobbyist welder. Biggest advantage is that it’s sooo small and light, let’s see how long it lasts ... show more

I ordered this for my 89 year old father in law, he was a welder 50 years ago and needed something lightweight to to some home projects, like that welding table. I do have a Lincoln multi process inverter and my thoughts about this machine were that it was going to be on the flimsy and weak especially, comparing it to a Lincoln 210MP. I was pleasantly surprised! True that is not a machine for heavy duty use like a welding shop and extended time, but it sure can do most welding around the house or a farm. Very lightweight, and extremely portable but with enough power to burn 1/8" 6013 rods . The 120/240 volts is a plus. What would be better? longer cables but for the price, can't complain much. Would I buy another Hitbox product? Most likely. ... show more
