  • Works well but be careful
Model: cwe
Got this as a temporary solution to heat up an inflatable hot tub with broken heater . It works . It will heat it from 85 to 102 in a few hours . If it doesn't reach desired temp in 3 hours , un plug , let it cool and restart .Follow instructions , don't leave unsupervised or plugged in for more than 3 hours . Do not touch the water while plugged in . Let it cool before removing from water .Yes , i can understand why it can be a possible fire hazard if unsupervised or used incorrectly. ... show more

  • Not worth the effort
Model: cwe
Used this twice in an inflatable hot tub. It wasn't worth the effort and rusted almost instantly. Does it get hot? Sure. Is it super useful in some situations? Probably. Would I buy it again? Nope. Do I still use it? Nope. Can it possibly shock you or kill you? Yup.

  • heated as needed.
Model: cwe
I was looking to heat a small tank of water, bathtub sized. It took quite awhile but did get it up to reasonably warm. Have not used it but a few times but it seemed to do the job and for the price did it pretty well. No regrets.

  • Work great for cost
Model: cwe
This heater works great however if you are not carful it will burn out and the plastic burns very easily. Make sure it is covered completely with water and it will shock you if you stick your hand in the water when on!!!!

  • Works great
Model: cwe
I have an 80 gallon bathtub, this can raise the temp from 95 to 105 in about an hour. There is no electrical shorting but Of course I would NEVER violate safety protocol by using it while I'm IN the tub... I'm sure they're legally required to have that safety protocol. But I'm satisfied with the product. ... show more

  • Fire hazard
Model: cwe
First the goods. It definitely works well! Two of them warmed 300 gallons of water in about 3-4 hours. Now the bad… it is a serious fire hazard. It doesn’t pull enough power to trip the breaker, but it makes the plugs and wires incredibly hot! I had this plugged into an outlet in my garage (no drywall so i’m able to touch the wires, but professionally installed.) and the outlet it was plugged into was getting increasingly hot. After about 2 hours I unplugged the heater to let the wires cool. While unplugging the heaters, I accidentally touched the prongs (not plugged in) and it burned me immediately! Also, I noticed it started melting the plastic around the prongs (as pictured) after I unplugged it showing how truly hot it is I did have both heaters plugged into two separate outlets on two different breakers as written in the instructions. ... show more

  • Worked great ... until ... see photos, updates ...
Model: cwe
I bought this for use as a secondary heater for our new Bestway inflatable spa, which only heats the water to a maximum of 104 degrees. 104 is "hot enough," but the temp drops a bit once you uncover the spa and turn the jets on. This heater, used in combination with an Inkbird temperature-activated power control (if you're going to do this, make sure you get the model rated to carry 15 amps) allows me to get, and keep the water at a slightly higher temp for those first 10 mins or so in the spa. It'd be nice if the power cable was a bit longer, but other than that, this heater has been working great for me. If you want to use it the same way I do, just make sure to hang the heater cord over some kind of float to keep it away from the wall of the spa, and know that you can't run it from the same circuit that's running the spa. The spa draws 12 amps; this heater draws 12.5 amps (e.g., 1500W at 110-120 volts household current). You get the picture. The in-line power switch is a must in my application, because that allows me to turn the heater off without having to mess with the Inkbird controller, which I keep plugged in all the time. If it dies, it dies, I guess ... but so far, it's been working great for me, heating up my spa in literally half the time the OE pump/heater takes. [4/15/2022 Update: Well, it worked great for about a month, then began shorting out/causing the outlet breaker to trip. Trying to figure out what went wrong, I disassembled the unit, and observed several open cracks in the outer tubing of the electrode, which went through the metal to the core. There was rust/calcium deposits on the cracked areas and inner side of the stainless steel shield, which causes me to believe these deposits build up on the electrode in normal use, and if they aren't routinely scrubbed off, they'll cause the electrode metal to superheat/burn in these spots, which = failure/shorting. The "harder" your water is, the more crud will build up on the electrode when you're using the unit. Two things that should have been EXPLAINED in some instructions supplied with the unit, especially if you're using it a lot, or in harder/dirtier water: 1) You CAN and SHOULD routinely disassemble the unit to inspect the electrode, and 2) use the scrubber supplied with the unit (or any such scrubber) to clean off any crud you see building up on any part of its surface. I'm going to buy another one and see how well it holds up with such regular inspections/maintenance. For now, one star off for crappy/no proper instructions on regular maintenance.] [4/29/2022 Second Update: OK ... my second one crapped out after only a week, and that was with me inspecting/cleaning all deposits off the electrode every day. It just started tripping the outlet breaker, with no sign of any damage to the electrode, potted connections, cable or switch, which suggests to me that the materials used in this thing are so inferior that it can't remain on/working for any but the shortest, intermittent uses. I've never done this before with ANY product I've ever puchased on Amazon, but I am now demoting this product to "junk" status. One star.] ... show more
