  • Great eBike!
Color: gray Style: Elias With Rear Bag
We have put over 200 miles on this eBike so far, and feel we are at a point we can write a proper review. We have three other eBikes of different models (including a tough, 26" fat wheel bike with 1000 watt peak motor), so we also have a good basis for making a comparison when reviewing this bike. To cut to the chase, this eBike is fantastic, and we highly recommend it! Keep reading if you want more details. For starters, this bike is mainly ridden by Jen who is 5' 4" tall. I've seen other reviewers complain about the handlebar height for shorter riders. She likes the geometry of this bike as-is. I took a close look at the handlebars, and it appears they can be shorted by about 1.5" by cutting some of the bottom off of the upper tube (thus also reducing its maximum height by about 1.5" as well), but she said that isn't necessary and she likes it as-is. We've put this bike through some grueling rides. Multiple 25 mile long rides on a Rails-to-Trails (nice very even grade) as well as a 12 mile ride that included a 1,400' elevation gain climbing a mountain and a 2 mile stretch of very rough hiking trail (Appalachian mountain style with big rocks and roots). The bike has handled it all with ease. Battery life: After 25 mile long rails to trails, as well as a 1,400' climb on a 12 mile ride, this bike usually has about 50% battery life remaining. So far we haven't been able to ride it long enough to deplete the battery. We also have another (more expensive) eBike that I mainly ride, and my battery has totally depleted on 3 of the same rides. So this bike really has great longevity. Power: The power on this bike is great. We have another eBike with 1,000 watt peak power, and the Hipeak outperforms it. Both when accelerating from a stop (like to cross a street quickly), or torqueing up a big hill. The power is very impressive and absolutely is the full 750 watts claimed, if not more. Pedal Assist levels: The PA levels on this bike (there are 7 of them) are really good. There are a good 3 levels for slower speed that are reasonable to pedal along with and cruise for long-distance. In comparison, my other (more expensive) eBike only has 5 PA levels, and huge complaint I have with that other bike is that PA 2 is way too fast, leaving only level 1 for long distance cruising. Fortunately this bike does not have that problem at all! Also as a side note, you can increase the maximum speed of the bike to 25 MPH in a special settings menu, which we did immediately just in case we need that extra speed on the road. Build: The bike is well made. The welds look good, it's solidly designed, the folding mechanism works good (I like the additional safety of having to pull up on the latch to release it after releasing the lever), the rear rack is really beefy and solidly attached to the bike. Quality: One really nice thing about this bike is all the extra "upgraded" bits. It has nice contoured hand grips, the seat is quite comfortable and decent width, there are three really nicely designed bungies built into the rack, the pedals seem good quality. In other words we haven't felt the need to upgrade anything so far, with the exception of adding a side mirror (we chose the option with the bag for the rack). Bag: The bag for the rack (we chose that option) is quite nice. It holds a good amount of stuff, and extends upwards if needed to increase the capacity. It also has saddle bags that can be unfolded on both sides to add even more storage. Lights: The lights are fine. The headlight has a very focused beam, whereas my other bike has a wider flood beam. I tend to like the flood beam better as it seems more useful for actually riding in the dark, but I'm sure some people like the more focused spot of the Hipeak light as well. If I had to find two negative things about this bike, and really, really nitpick, they would be: Brake light. When the lights are on, the taillight stays on all the time of course. However when you hit the brakes the additional illumination for the brake is very little. In other words, the brake light is barely brighter than the tail light, so it isn't noticeable unless you really pay close attention. When the lights are off then the brake light is nice and bright and obvious (compared to it not being on at all). Brakes: The brakes are mechanical, and it takes a good bit of squeezing to really engage them when descending something really steep. Hydraulic brakes would be a great upgrade, but at this cost point they are just mechanical, and work fine as far as mechanical brakes go. However that is one thing Jen specifically mentioned is how hard she has to pull the lever to brake down a really steep trail. To summarize, this bike is great, and we highly recommend it. From the build quality, looks and performance, we really, really love this eBike. ... show more

  • Great value for a intermediate cyclist.
Color: gray Style: Elias With Rear Bag
Giving 5 stars for value. if you are hardcore this won't be for you, but it's super fun to go for a spin even on trails. I use power assist sparingly and battery lasts around 6 hours. Surprisingly nice as a bike, I expected pedaling to be inefficient but it's not bad. Again if you are going to be on one for hours, not this, but for short rides it's fantastic. BTW I am 5'10 190 lbs, if you are my size or smaller perfect, if you are bigger this might not be for you. ... show more

  • smooth ride
Color: gray Style: Elias Standard
First of all, this bike is awesome! Seems to be well-built, easy to put together, shock. Absorbers are great for a smooth ride. It was fast and attracted a lot of attention. Rims and 4" fat tires are slip resistant and ride smoothly. The large capacity of motor and battery make the bike have stronger endurance, and I can use it for a longer time! Overall, it was the best purchase for me. I have a new freedom to explore my world. ... show more

  • The fat tires easily handle all kinds of road conditions.
Color: gray Style: Elias Standard
This electric bike is pretty good for riding around the town. It was fairly easy to assemble and came with all the necessary tools. It took me about 30 minutes to fully assemble it. The only slightly tricky part was adjusting the front brake to eliminate some noise. The 750W motor has easily handled all the hills I've encountered in the few days I've been riding it. My favorite feature is definitely the fat tires. I've ridden on park trails, beaches, muddy roads, and all sorts of broken terrain. It can handle all kinds of road conditions. ... show more

  • Great Value E-Bike With Lots Of New Features in 2024!
Color: gray Style: Elias With Lock
I bought two of these bikes and want to start off by saying I am impressed. There are a few things I think are worth mentioning (good and bad) but overall if you're on the fence about buying this bike or not, it is definitely worth it! I did extensive research when looking at a PAS Bike that would fit my needs and came down to a couple options. I am glad I went with Hipeak Elias as it has definitely met my expectations. Though there are a few things that are worth mentioning that might help when making your decision on this bike. Lets start with the black one. Looks like for 2024 there have been a few pleasant upgrades to the existing Hipeak Elias. The black one came with a different seat that now has suspension built into it, turn signals built into the rear taillight, protective cable sleeving making it just look a little more refined, and a drink holder. All the things mentioned here were on the other bike I was looking at so to see them show up on this bike knowing when ordering they weren't there was a huge bonus! Having those features now, I am so glad they decided to make this bike a little better! They did however remove the locking front suspension fork which I was bummed about. Now to talk about my wife's bike (the blue/grey one). This one looks to be the older model (ordered at the same time). This bike does not have the rear taillight turn signals, seat suspension, cup holder or the protective cable sleeve (though I added one fairly easily). In addition her instruction manual had different recommendations for the different modes than mine did. We just followed the recommended instructions on the newer manual when setting up our bike configurations on the display. I am hoping to get into contact with Hipeak as well as her bike seems to constantly be stuck between gears when shifting, while it does shift it always sounds like its trying to shift into a different gear so it might just need some fine tuning. My black bike had one of these issues. Having the newer features on my black bike, we really wished the blue/grey one also had these as they make the Elias just a little bit safer and nicer but overall we are very happy with them. In the future, I am hoping they continue to improve on the bike and I would love to see folding pedals, a handle on the battery, a nicer seat (these are not for me in terms of comfort), front turn signals in addition to the rear, and a brighter headlight. Its worth noting that shipping for both bikes took 5 more days than suggested 5-7 days on here (not a big deal but I was just very excited and was getting impatient). I think the rider height is very subjective as we both are around 5'6" and I keep mine close to the lowest setting already. I am not sure someone much shorter than us would find this bike very comfortable either. To conclude, if you're thinking about if this bike is for you, just buy it. It has been fantastic. I have put about 100 miles on it in the first week and it has exceeded all expectations. Its light enough to throw into my car, folds easy, the battery can be removed and charged inside, and is super smooth on the road. The walk assist mode is also a nice little addition. Could not recommend this bike more, I am just hoping Hipeak standardizes the 2024 model for all future bikes as my wife was really bummed to see the extra features on my bike missing on hers. ... show more
