  • Beyond pleased!
This is for the HIKMICRO B1L 160 x 120 IR Resolution Thermal Imaging Camera with WiFi, 25Hz Refresh Rate. I was concerned about this "off-brand" for the price, but once I received the item and played around with it, the settings, etc... I was honestly blown away by the quality, especially with the lens shutter to protect the lens when not in use, you don't see that often. The 25hz refresh rate is pleasantly noticeable, the thermal picture moves smoothly. The resolution is perfect for me. The battery life is amazing, I have used it several times and haven't had to recharge it yet, and the battery indicator display somehow indicates the charge is full... not sure if it's mistaken or it's actually that large a capacity. The app that the manual recommends connecting to is called HIKMICRO Viewer on the Google Play store, it only had 500 downloads at the time of this review, which is super sketch. BUT! It performs amazingly, the thermal imager can connect to your wifi, and it can cast seamlessly to your phone via the app for recording pictures or video. I'm able to see studs in external walls very clearly (not interior walls b/c no temp difference with other side), and even plaster and lath walls that are external walls (less obvious), I couldn't believe it. I can see ceiling/attic floor joists from the 2nd floor. This device showed all my GFCI outlets as "hot," but other non-GFCI outlets weren't hot, this gave me concern and I looked it up online... oh, it's normal, and the temp was only a few degrees difference, but the imager picked this up clearly. I found out that there is a damn uncovered AC "out" behind one of our cabinets, only because that particular cabinet showed up "darker/colder" on the thermal monitor than the others, I confirmed it by feeling the cold air leaking from under the cabinet at the wall, never knew this before the thermal imager... I definitely will fix that. I found hot spots in several of the room walls and ceilings which can be fixed with insulation later, I'm thrilled to KNOW where to fix. It even found a strange hot spot on the wall in the first floor bathroom, which was actually the electrical box on the other side of that wall. Money well spent... and saved in the years to come! You will not regret this product. ... show more

  • Pretty cool thermal imaging camera
I really did not know what to expect from this camera. I am pretty new to thermal imaging. I am using it to determine temperature differences on animals. The instrument menus are very easy to navigate. The refresh rate seems quick. The temperature range is pretty large for my purposes, but you can adjust to narrow the range and if using the software. When using the software you can further make adjustments and include data for the ambient air and humidity at the time the thermal image was captured. The camera comes with a factory certified temperature calibration, but not sure how accurate the high/low range is. The instructions are pretty basic. I have found a few YouTube videos that were very helpful. This might be me not understanding, but when adjusting the temperate range to obtain a full image of an object, I find the low range can be in very low or the negative value range for degrees C or F. I intend to keep searching and playing with the instrument - it might be just me not fully understanding how to properly set up the temperature range for my purposes. ... show more

  • You will love this one.
The media could not be loaded. It has so many features. I will explain a few of them, if not all. I said few only because I afraid I'll forget one or two because there so many of them. This unit has multiple color view options, I have uploaded pictures of some of them. If for example, I need to weld a large area and need to preheat the surface first. This unit makes it easy to see how hot the object is and if I missed a spot. At home, I used it to identify birds nesting in my roof in the barn. And surely this unit makes it easy to see if your house losing heat or cold air. One of the settings allows you to set the distance at which the unit marks the hottest and coldest spot on the screen. So for example, if you have the fire in front of you but there person standing behind it. The unit will ignore the for and put red and blue X of temperature readings behind the fire. It has cast the screen option so you can cast what you see, whether it's the live feed or data you saved on your memory card, onto the screen of your choice. And you will see this on the video I uploaded. But. You need to download the App on your phone if you want to cast the image onto your phone. I have also checked out the website of the manufacturer to make sure that the warranty they provide with the unit will stand the time and to make sure it's not the company that will change its name tomorrow and instead will leave you dry. The future of manual closing and opening lense is good, however, I thought my unit was broken at first. Till I figured out that I need to open up the lense. Besides the manual that you can download in the form of PDF, they provide you with other useful tools and educational material. But truly, I did not download the manual because the menu is so user-friendly. I could figure out and understand all options and navigate in settings with no issues at all. Hope this review will help you make your buying experience pleasant. ... show more

  • Nice
For the most part this is a must have tool. I've only used it a hand full of times. But I've used it to repair ACs, refrigerators, walk-in coolers, and tons of electrical issues, and to locate areas without insulation in attics, without having to climb in to hot attics. It's a must have.

  • Really works perfectly for searching my house for drafts and cold spots.
Very impressive. I’m really happy I bought this particular thermal imager. Like a dummy, I spent 10 minutes frustrated with it thinking it was broken before I realized it has a shutter that protects the lens…😉 Once that was figured out, the device worked immediately and it was obvious how to use. I can see cold spots on the ceiling ( where insulation is missing or too thin ), even where the studs are behind walls, Recessed lighting that need insulating and gaps under doors. Very impressive… ... show more
