I'm using this as a mirror, more or less, on my Polaris Slingshot. I love my odd little vehicle, but it's got some truly massive blind spots, and this camera is going a long way to removing those. The picture quality is very good, and the sun shade like feature has actually turned out to be a big deal when the sun is behind me. I've really liked the improvement to visibility I've gotten. The downside is installation. This is not a plug-and-play sort of item. You'll have to wire it into your vehicle for it to have power, and a lot of us (me for example), aren't very confident in that area. Also, I'm hunting for a second camera, as this comes equipped with a split screen, and there's still one blind spot I could cover. Finding that compatible camera has been a hassle, but I'll keep at it. If you know how to install this type of item, you'll like this camera. If you don't, know someone who does before you order it. When I ordered this it was around $80, which is fine, but a lot of money to eat if you can't get it installed. ... show more

This back up camera and monitor is well made. It is fairly easy to set up. Just hook it up to your 12 V system and you can pretty much have it up and running out of the box in a few minutes. The only thing that might take a while is running the wire from the camera to the monitor. The display is nice and clear. You have different view orientation options for the camera view depending on how and where you placed the camera. You can also have an option to have guide lines on the screen or not. The camera itself looks and feels well-made. The night vision on this is basically just LED lights lighting up the area. Let me preface this review with this statement; I do NOT order items that I do not intend to use myself. That said; this is went in to a project vehicle that has limited side visibility, even with mirrors, so the split screen feature was MY selling point. It only comes with ONE camera, clearly stated, part of the star loss. You will have to do some hunting to find a matching/compatible camera as contacting the seller to get the extra one is futile. I actually went with 2 different but matching cameras as they show on the exterior of the truck and the supplied unit is very utilitarian looking for my taste. The other partial star loss is due to video cable connector quality. Be VERY careful when you connect the head or the camera as the threads are poorly done and will cross thread or just strip out if not engaged PERFECTLY, small thing but VERY annoying if you are trying to do this in a confined space as I was, and you will also probably be. Overall the picture quality and stability was very good and the monitor having some choices for mounting is a good feature. I can't say if the cameras I used had any effect on video quality over the supplied, I did NOT hook that camera up, so perhaps there might be some change there but I doubt it. I like it, time will tell if it lasts for a good long time, but right now, not bad at all. ... show more

    • Instructions "Manual" is Hopeless. Make Sure You Know How This is Powered.

I got this as I have a very old jeep that is missing any electronics. which is sometimes a plus. However, my commute now includes an almost blind left on a sometimes busy country road. I didn't want an Android or IOS device for the Jeep, I just wanted something simpler to provide a better rear view. While the manual for this camera includes detailed pictorial instructions on how to remove the display from the mount (??), the manual includes Zero instructions on how to wire this camera for power. To my surprise, the power "cable" has a typical cylindrical connector tip on one end (easy) and a raw wire on the other. No idea what to do with that. Definitely not easy. I note the listing says "Please check if the power cable port on the detail page matches your car before purchase". I don't know what detail page is being referenced. I can find nothing in the listing or the manual that addresses this. ... show more

    • Worked well as a mechanic tool

The camera worked well for me, I ended up powering it from the trailer plug after some electrical work. I didn't need it for backing up but I used it for diagnostics while driving. I have used a couple cameras for this purpose and this one had the fastest response. The others were wireless which was convenient but they would lag a lot. This one worked well and let me see what was going on under the truck from in the cab. If you haven't used a camera like this to help diagnose problems you need to grab one. The color was good and even under the hood the night vision kicked on and it was very clear. The length of cable was great too. I actually had too much so I zip tied it up. Overall I think this is a great camera for whatever your need it. Just get ready to do a bit of wiring if you want to install this one. ... show more

I got this to act as a second set of eyes for under the hood while I’m working on things, or to slap on the trailer in a pinch. Everything needed was included, works, and the little monitor/camera did surprisingly well, picture quality was good. Plenty of cable included, and the bracket has multiple mounting solutions.
