Paddles are not soft, they have a lot of pop so you have to be careful with how hard you hit. These racquets have been great! We have been playing on occasions with my in laws and using their racquets and finally decided to get our own. They have been great for learning and are not crazy expensive like other racquets so I don’t feel guilty if I accidentally drop them on occasion.
