Description

This is a heavy duty K-type Thermocouple for use in kiln and furnace applications. The probe is made from AWG 8 Gauge thermocouple wire and is rated for continuous use at very high temperatures up to 2372 °F Fahrenheit or 1300 °C Celsius. The k-type thermocouple is about 8.5 inch in total length, and the 6 insulation tubes are about 6.5 inch long. This type K Thermocouple Kiln Probe is made with 6 ceramic insulators, each about 1 inch long, and it allows you to adjust the probe length by removing insulator elements and shortening the wire to your exact requirement. This k-type thermocouple is frequently used in ceramic ovens, kilns and furnaces, in pottery ovens, metal working, manufacturing and whenever you need to measure and control very high temperatures. Ships quickly from St Paul, Minnesota, USA. If you have questions we can help. Specifications: K-type Thermocouple Measurement Range -58 to 2372 °F (-50 to 1300 °C) Wire Diameter: AWG 8, 0.13” or 3.2 mm Total length: 8.5 inch (21.5 cm) Insulated length: 6.5 inch (16.2 cm) Ceramic Insulator, oval shape: L~ 0.5” W~ 0.4” (L=12.3mm W=10mm), a ceramic connector block for wiring and a 5 ft hook-up cable and a digital thermometer CM6801 are included. • Misleading numbers
Make sure and read closely. The pyrometer can go to over 2300 degrees f, awesome. But the display only goes up to 1999 f. So if you’re firing anything over cone 2, I’m firing to cone 10, you can’t use this thermo with the pyro. Misleading and disappointing.

  • Works great, durable, accurate
I make custom high quality no spin/half spin throwing knives with a double burner American made gas forge. When i started and was learning it didn't take long to realize an infrared gun or a magnet just was not a consistent way to make repeatedly equal knives so i bought this thermocouple and the ceramic sleeve sold separately. I drilled a hole through a firebrick for the sleeve and sealed it to be tight and solid with refractory cement. I use that brick on end to close off the back of the forge. This results in not only a way for me to do things consistently each time but get a much more accurate temp reading when going threw normalizing cycles or when bringing to the temp i want to quench at. It also allows me to adjust the gas to give steel 5 or 10 minute soak times at a high temperature which without something like this is almost impossible to do when using a gas forge. If your getting better at heat treating or you want to you have to do this upgrade in my opinion it will atleast make it so much easier for you. ... show more

  • Flippin life changer!!!
I bought a old ceramic kiln with very basic dials. It came as a package from other things I bought but wanted to use it for glass fusing. Over and over I ruined my art because I had no idea what the temperature was until I bought this!!! This changed everything for me and now I am not ruining my art....or expensive molds because I was guessing. ... show more

  • Great value!
Works great for my needs. I use it in a forge application for making knives. I drilled a hole in the top of my forge for the probe to sit in between the two burners near the edge/wall so it’s not directly in the flame. With this I’ve been able to successfully heat treat two knives made of 80crv2 thus far without issue. It also allows me to make adjustments to my forge and control temps for different steel heat treat applications which is the whole reason I purchased. I can’t definitively say how accurate it is since I have no way of independently testing it’s accuracy but the toughness of my knives turned out well. I’m very satisfied and would recommend for any hobbyist knife maker or ceramics worker ... show more

  • Looks like a good product
So far it has worked well. Amazing customer service. I had put together the product wrong and reached a real person that was helpful and it was wonderful. Followed his directions and worked like a charm. Wow, awesome!

  • Great thermometer for kiln
Seems to be working very well, the probe is sensitive enough that when you touch it the temp goes up pretty quickly. Easy to put together and comes with 9v battery.

  • Good value. I hope.
As long as the °C keeps working, this is still a good deal. I have been using it for two days and the °F no longer functions.
