Power Pet doors are motor driven and activated by a tiny ultrasonic collar. Unlike other electronic pet doors that merely unlock a hinged panel, requiring your pet to push it open, Patented Power Pet doors open completely under their own power. When your pet approaches, the air-tight translucent super-strength resin door panel quickly and quietly powers upward, disappearing into the stylish housing. Mounted in hermetically sealed grooves for air-tight closure, this mounting arrangement makes it impossible for an intruder to kick it out. An automatic dead-bolt locking feature adds a high level of security. The result is a secure pet door that allows your pets to come and go as they please while their animal friends are politely asked to stay out. The digitally coded signal emitted from your pet's ultrasonic transmitter collar allows the Power Pet to open only when your pet is on a direct approach. 4-way access control lets you select from In Only, Out Only, Full Access or Closed and Locked. Dual range controls let you set independent inside and outside activation distances. Comes in 3 Models Door Install Model Wall Install Model (Each comes in 2 sizes (Medium – up to 30 lbs. and Large – up to 100 lbs. Our Sliding Glass Model turns a sliding glass door into a fully automatic pet door. Power Pet door is pre- installed in an aluminum framed glass insert to fit into a sliding glass patio door. I purchased this tentatively as the price was not low. However, the item is well made, functions beautifully and looks good on the door. It is not noisy and we installed it our master bathroom door which leads to our patio/backyard. The range sensitivity can be adjusted easily and the door closure wait time can be adjusted as well. We started out letting the door open when she got 4 feet near it then adjusted down to about two feet after a day. The dog figured it out in one day. Did a very short training session for about 15 min. When the door is down it is solid and will not let anything in that does not have the radio collar on. Installation was relatively easy. I am not a big fan of the cord but I since I love the door I will be purchasing the back up battery for it. ... show more

We purchased this for our two cocker spaniels and it works great. It has been installed for a few weeks now and they use it regularly. We installed it in a metal exterior door that has a window. We had to get the large size so the top covers part of the window, but we don't normally open the window in this door anyways. The installation instructions are not great, but we are handy folks and did not have any problems with the install. Took the door off, marked the measurements, drilled holes in the four corners and used a jigzaw with a good metal blade to cut through the door. Had to cut both sides. One the hole was in place, the unit installed very quickly and easily. We had a power outlet right by the door, so we went with the AC plug that comes with the unit. I really like that the door allows for the plug to be connected on either side. The dog collars are small and don't seem to bother our dogs at all. The unit comes with one collar and we purchased a 2nd on Amazon also. One minor challenge we have is that if the collar spins at all, the sensor won't line up and the door may not open when the dog walks up to it. We are playing with the sensor adjustments now to see if there is an impact. It confuses the dog when the door won't open, but fortunately, since we have two and they are usually together. The other one will walk up or come back in from outside and open the door. The unit does not have an adjustment to specify how long the door should stay open once they walk through it. Since we have two dogs, this would be great. I didn't take any stars off for this though because we still really like how it works as-is. We haven't recognized how long the collar batteries last yet. They are specialty batteries and are not cheap, but we understand why... to keep the sensor small. We definitely recommend this unit. We had a hard time determining what size to purchase. Our dogs are fairly small. One weights just over 30 pounds, which was the max for the smaller unit. We did some testing with cardboard and determined that the larger unit would be best for our dogs, even though they are small. The size is great. They have plenty of room to run through the door and it is not too large. Sometimes they try to go through it together :-) . We did a lot of research on all the options available and from what we've reviewed and now what we've experiences... we are very confident that we made the right decision. ... show more

This item changed my life. While I love my kitties, it was becoming quite tedious having to get up & down every 5 minutes or so to let them in or out. My first thought was that I couldn't use one of these because the door in which I originally wanted to install it was glass, but it turns out one can take such a door to a glass cutter, who can cut a hole to accommodate the electronic door. Then I thought about it a bit more & decided to buy two of these. One leads out from my kitchen to my garage, and the other leads from the garage to outside. That way I avoided having to remove the glass door & part of its lattice work, hauling it to the glass cutter & so on. While someone experienced at basic carpentry could probably do the installation (detailed instructions are included), I elected to have a pro install them. He did a fantastic job & the doors have consistently performed magnificently. My male kitty, who is a bit bolder than my female, took to it right away & in no time was going in & out as he pleased. At first, the "whoosh" noise of the door opening & closing spooked my female kitty but her curiosity at what the male cat was doing soon overcame her apprehension & she too was letting herself in and out. My only problems have been with the collars, and a couple of issues with the doors. My cats kept clawing at the collars at first because they weren't used to wearing collars. The male cat managed to pop off the collar's battery cover but I found it, clicked it right back on & he hasn't dislodged it since. The other issue was that my female has somehow managed to slip completely out of her collar a couple of times while outside. Luckily, I found the collar the first time. The second time I had to order a new collar. I now keep a few spares collars (and spare batteries) around. It's a minor annoyance that their collar batteries are proprietary but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. And one time the inside door's inner sensor seemingly quit working & the cats couldn't get out (BTW, one can set the door to let them in only, out only, both, or neither). Anyhow I checked the company's website, which has troubleshooting information. Through that I determined I needed a new sensor. They sent it free (along with detailed installation instructions) because I was under warranty. But for some reason, before I got around to replacing it the original one started working again & hasn't malfunctioned since. And occasionally the door in the garage can freeze shut if temps outside get extremely low. We've started keeping the cats indoors in winter anyhow since one of them caught pneumonia & almost died. That door also started squeaking once but a whiff of WD-40 resolved that. While other pet door solutions are out there, to me this is about as perfect as it can get and I am EXTREMELY pleased with how well they work & the support from their manufacturer even though I bought them through Amazon.
