This Hair Straightener, when I ordered it, I didn't quite realize what it was. I thought it something along the lines of a traditional hot iron straightener. While the element of heat is here with this, what this device is, is predominantly a curious flat-iron styled hair dryer! It seemed a bit large when I first saw it, and it intimidated me. I am not a person who uses flat irons typically, so this was entirely a new venture for me. Finally, I worked up the nerve to try it, and I'm so glad that I did! It really makes intuitive sense once you start to use it. First of all, be sure to follow the warning- this is not for use on sopping wet hair, that would be unsafe . This is for use on well towel-dried but still damp hair. I thought it worked well actually if I blow dried my hair the traditional way first until it was half dry and then combed it out straight with a brush, and then finished up the job of drying and straightening with this tool. The key to this tool is you always want the air vents (they are on only one side of this tool) facing downward (not blowing UP your hair shaft, you want it blowing DOWN towards the ends) you can pick your temperature setting, there is a nice cool one (that is more for finishing your hair off with a nice shine I do believe) and then there is a moderate warmth and a warmer setting. None seemed "hot" to me. I liked this because it wasn't stressful like a hot flat iron or curling iron are, where you are always in danger of burning yourself if you bump your skin with them- this tool is not like that. I don't think I could have burned myself with it on any setting, even if I tried! When you plug it in, it makes a blowing sound. there are four buttons, one that changes temperature and one that changes the strength of the air flow, although that one is hard to tell that you have changed it, and the power button and an immediate "cool" button. So you have this fan like sound going with the power on. Don't be surprised or unnerved though by the next sound, because what happens is when you place the iron where you want and clamp it down, the fan kicks on into a much higher blowing and sound as you have it clamped and drag it (easily) down your section of damp hair. When you let up at the bottom, the stronger blowing/fan sound stops and it is back to the regular low fan sound. I was really pleased with the results too on my hair, it was very straight, like I had been to the salon, and it wasn't as frizzy looking as is usual for me. Now note, I have fine thin hair mostly straight, but with a bit of wave to it, and with age it has become more frizzy and old looking. Straightening it is not too hard for me to do if I really want to. This tool I really like because I feel like it is less harsh on my hair than a hot flat iron would be. I think though that for someone with thicker curlier hair this might just be a nice precursor to still having to use a traditional flat iron to straighten with. Not sure that this could overcome curly hair in the same way a high temp iron can. Also note, I've just tried this with damp hair, with no product in my hair. I'm thinking this would work better yet with product in to help hold the straightness. There is only one thing I didn't like about this hair straightener/blow dryer- the bottom part has a protective cover that covers the air intake/filter area, and that cover is held on magnetically, and it seemed like it didn't hold it on very securely. More than once I bumped that cover off easily with my hand by accident. Not while I was drying my hair thankfully, but it seems like they need to find a way to have that more securely fastened so it doesn't get knocked off by accident while you are using the tool. I'm not sure what would happen if you did, but it seems like it could be not good, might not be safe. The only other thing negative about it (I thought of one more, after saying I only had one thing I didn't like.. ) is that occasionally when you are using it, if you flip it a certain direction it seems to pause, when you clamp it on hair though it still comes back on and dries, and my only complaint with this pause feature, is that I don't quite understand what I'm doing to cause it to pause. It isn't a big deal, just something that still mystifies me. Overall, I love this device. Just realize what it is exactly and what its limitations might be when it come to your hair type and what it can or can't do. I think it is pretty neat myself! ... show more

So this is advertised as a blower and a straightener. I do not have that much hair, but it would take me forever if I used this to dry my hair from towel dry. I do like that you can use the straightener on semi-dried hair. You have to pay attention when you are using it as a straightener to make sure the air flow is facing down- when I got it wrong my hair poofed up. I really like that this does not have hot plates to minimize damage to your hair. And yes, I touched the plates after I had been using it to see- probably not the smartest but I wanted to test it out. This machine is bulky and kind of heavy, but it is basically two products in one. Because it is bulky, it is hard to straighten hair really close to your scalp if you need to. It also seems like it takes a few more passes than a regular straight iron. Overall, I think this is a good product, but I can't see it replacing my drier and it is pricey. ... show more

This was a little heavier than I expected, but wasn't bad. After 30 minutes of using it, my hand started getting a little tired, but I also don't typically straighten my hair and when I do, my usual straightener is smaller than this one. So it could just be I'm not used to this size and weight. The device came in a beautiful box and the unit itself is very pretty and feels smooth and strangely soft without any kind of padding. The texture of it is pretty awesome. The process was easy to do, once I got used to it. It's knowing where the air flows out and knowing where you want to blow it. It's definitely important to get those roots dry, but be careful! I have thick course hair and I thought using a 250deg temp would be fine, but it wasn't. I ended up burning off a small chunk of my hair which was a little scary, bit luckily was the lowest layer of my hair and I could hide it. So I recommend drying your hair on COOL or on the 195deg setting. Once dry, then turn it the other way and change to a warmer setting. Heat level variety was nice as well. Once I dry/straightened all my hair on a 250deg temp, I went back through and did a quick smooth over on the highest temp and immediately again on cool. I was very impressed with how straight it got my hair as I have some stubborn waves and battle frizzy hair. I did use a anti frizz serum prior to the process. Being it was my 1st time, it did take me 45 minutes to complete. Which is still 15 mins less than if I were to blow dry and straighten separately. ... show more

So when I orderd this hair straightener from Supgaliy, I must have missed the airflow part and thought I was getting a flat iron. When I inspected the product, I couldn't figure out where the heat plates were, and then imagine my surprise when I turned it on and it started blowing air. So then I did what any good tester would do, I tried it out. It was great! I guess the difference between this and a flat iron is that it uses heated air and ions to straighten and smooth your hair vs. squishing it between to hot plates. Which has to be a little easier on the hair I'm guessing? I'm from the old school before flat irons were sold to regular people and we actually ironed our hair with irons. So if that makes you cringe, then it makes you realize that using a flat iron isn't all that much different. There is some tension here that's created by little tooth combs in the heating part that helps hold the hair taught while it's being treated. There is a cool setting too, so I'm not sure if that's there to help "set" the straightening effect or whether the ions can work without the heat. But I don't think this is a hair dryer per se. You could probably dry your hair with it, but I have a ton of hair and I think it would probably take forever. I actually have a great brush dryer that I'm super happy with it but I still may try it just for fun, but I think this is more a tool for styling vs. drying. ... show more
