If you typically straighten your hair, this tool is a game changer. For reference, I have long, curly hair that is thick and fine. I normally let my hair air dry overnight and use a flat iron in the morning to straighten. It takes so much time, I usually hate hair day. With this tool, I was able to go from wet hair to completely dry and straight in 30 minutes. It is absolutely amazing! Using a traditional hair dryer and straighter, it normally takes me at minimum 1 hour, to do that all at one time. It’s important to read the directions as they provide styling tips and give more detail on all the functions. More than enough power and heat to get the job done. Left my hair feeling so soft and shiny, no damage. So excited to keep using this tool as hair day just got easier and way more fun! I have used the Shark Flex Style to try and straighten my hair and the Dyson is much better. It is definitely lighter to hold and took less passes on my hair to get it straight and dry from wet. The Dyson only took 2 passes per section of hair where the Shark Flex Style took 4-5 passes. Also, the sound pitch and noise level on the Dyson seems quieter than the Shark Flex Style, as it has a weird high pitch sound when compared to the Dyson. The auto sensing on the Dyson is a very nice feature as well that the Shark Flex Style lacks. All in all, if straightening is your go to style, this tool is worth every penny! ... show more

Just adding one more review to pile on the praise for Dyson for creating this game-changing miracle device! Honestly, I'm surprised a device like this exists in my lifetime. Like many other reviewers, I used to use both a hair dryer and a flat iron after every wash to dry & straighten and this process took at least 30-35 minutes. The Dyson cuts my time and effort in half and I now only need 12-15 minutes to achieve the same look! In fact, my hair actually looks better after using the Dyson, as it does not compress the hair follicle quite as much as a flat iron and thus helps me retain some volume. I was concerned about how my roots would look but the option to lock the AirStraight in a closed position and essentially turn it into a stick dryer is incredible. I also love the option to choose Hot or Cold air and the setting for both Wet and Dry hair. As usual, Dyson's thoughtful design speaks to how this company covers all angles from all angles. I have to tell you this is the best product ever. I have had my Dyson styler for five years and love it. Then I saw they had a straightener and I gave it a shot. I used it once and couldn’t believe my eyes. My hair was straight and beautiful, like walking out of the salon easy to use. I know it’s expensive, but it’s worth it. I have fine naturally curly hair. I've heard all my life how "lucky" I am. There are days I embrace my curls and days I curse my curls. Like many out there I rely on a blow dryer (heat) and a flat iron (more heat) to achieve a sort of style on the days I don't like my hair. I recently chopped off 13" of hair for a donation to a non-profit, and my hair and I are kind of trying to figure out what we have now. My new do just barely touches my shoulders, so it is not long, not super short. I have no idea what possessed me to fork out $400 for a hair dryer...but after reading the reviews on Amazon I threw caution to the wind and bought one. While I waited for this investment to arrive I busied myself with watching dozens of YouTube on how these work. By the time it arrived, my anticipation level was off the charts and I could hardly wait to wash my hair and use this thing. The videos were so helpful, that I was comfortable with operating it right off. There is a learning curve for sure...this looks like a flat iron and after years of using one, it's like second nature, but this is not a flat iron. It's a weird hair dryer. You have to reposition the device to go in the direction of the air flow. One thing I did not consider, but it totally isn't an issue for some reason, is this does not reach your roots. I was concerned I would have straight hair from two inches out and weird wavy stuff at my scalp. That for some reason is not the case. I use just the air and kind of dry the roots in sections as I go. Results: Oh my goodness! It does exactly was it says it will do. I was 'blown away' by the results. Like shocked almost. I kept waiting for something to go wrong, but my hair just stayed straight and well behaved. I used a heat spray by Pura d'or and also have a backup Rusk serum to try next. Honestly, I've never seen anything like this contraption. The only downside, and it's not really a downside, just a comment, this leaves your hair straight. Super straight. You are not able to put a bend or curve if you are looking for that. I suppose you can use a flat iron, but that sort of defeats the purpose of having something that Dyson touts as being kinder to your hair. Overall, I am surprised at myself for spending an obscene amount of money for a hair dryer, but I am equally surprised at how this really does do what it says it does. Amazing gadget. I am extremely bad at managing my hair - no matter what I do it frizzes up in Atlanta humidity. This is great for drying and ALSO for touch ups in the afternoon or on a non-wash day. The heat is so much lower than a flat iron, but it somehow works better anyway. My ONLY ISSUE!! If you live at altitude (or vacation at altitude) it will not work! Seriously...this is a game changer! I have all the other Dyson hair styling products & this one ranks as high as my air wrap system. I have naturally curly coarse hair and as I don't have high hopes it will do the job for me in the warmer humid months... I can't tell you how amazing this worked and how healthy & soft my hair felt afterwards! And I used NO smoothing or straightening products at all! This is so amazing I included a photo... which I am to self conscious to ever do or have ever done but I just had to share. I know they are expensive products... but I think it is so worth it! ... show more
