  • Stripped down stereo receiver with some additions; can read FAT32 but not NTFS.
Color: BT-298A(40W+40W RMS Power)
SOUND QUALITY: This has a Class D power amp. Those are known for light weight, small size, and efficiency, not sound quality. Among other deficiencies, they have higher distortion, very low damping factor, and are highly sensitive to impedance mismatches. Nothing unsolvable but, at this price point, unlikely. Unit uses spring clips which seem limited to about 16 gauge speaker wire. I tested this with old mini speakers and didn't detect any real difference from Sony and Yamaha amps. But, the speakers were quite limiting. FM sound quality is "meh". Few stations emphasize sound quality. DESIGN: One obvious market for this would be as headphone amp. But, there's no headphone jack. This bare bones stereo receiver has only one line input plus FM, but adds karaoke, Bluetooth, a remote, and an internal music player that reads from SD or USB. Front panel power switch: Unit always boots to Line input. Remote's power button: Unit appears to be in standby mode (volume switch stays lit) and the unit now remembers the last selected input. Inserting a SD/USB drive automatically shifts to SD or USB play mode using a built-in music player. From there, you can change inputs with the Mode/Input button on remote or front. Remote is powered by a CR2025 lithium button cell, and has flimsy buttons and a reliable range of about 12 inches. EQ (accessed via remote) only works for SD and USB modes. EQ changes the sound noticeably, but not for the better. Has a DC power jack but doesn't include a DC power supply to complement the built-in AC cord. The internal music player reads from either SD or USB (will read FAT32 but not NTFS formatting), and will respond to playback and repeat controls on both front and remote, and to remote's numeric keypad for tracks. "Repeat All" is always on though you can switch to "Repeat One". No "Off" for repeat function. Bluetooth playback is controllable by front panel and remote. Numeric keypad on the remote allows track access. Repeat mode isn't available. FM mode: EVERY press of the play/pause button (front panel and remote) automatically scans for FM stations and stores them in memory. Vendor says "more than" 20 memory slots, and my unit stored 33 stations. Remote's numeric keypad can access individual memory slots, while front has channel up and down buttons to increment memory slots. Cannot store or delete stations manually. Auto scanning tends to register adjacent channel interference as stations. But, you can adjust frequency using the remote's track up and down keys. Those adjustments are temporary and can't be saved or stored. Remote has separate channel and track keys while front panel has combined keys with function determined by input mode. KARAOKE: Has 2 front panel microphone jacks and volume controls for each. Takes 1/4 inch plugs (presumably, mono not stereo). Didn't test. USER MANUAL: Both the English and the formatting of the manual flirt with incomprehensibility. OTOH, if you have experience with home AV equipment and Bluetooth, most functions are self-evident. (BTW, Bluetooth works flawlessly. YMMV.) No included information on device features or specs. This isn't suitable as a main unit for music or home theater. Too limited in functions/power, and I suspect that Class D power amp isn't up to snuff. Think of this as good for PC sound, temporary setups, portable devices, and playing compressed audio files. ... show more

  • Nice little BT Amplifer with Lots of Power
Color: BT-298A(40W+40W RMS Power)
This BT-298A Class D Amplifier has a small footprint about 7" wide x 6" x 2 1/4". It is powered by AC 110V but the power cord is kind of short, only 3ft long. It comes with a small remote control. The Amplifier has 2.0 channel and is rated 40W + 40W. I connect this Amplifier to a pair of tower speakers, each has a tweeter, a woofer and a 9.5" driver. I bluetooth connect it with my cell and play my music files (in lossless format) and I would say the sound is pretty amazing for this little Amplifier, totally exceed my expectation. It has no problem to drive my tower speakers, even at crank-up volume. The sound quality is very good, for general entertainment purpose. This Amplifier also has a built-in FM radio receiver with a retractable antenna that is also kind of short only 13" long. The FM reception is acceptable and I am able to pick up pretty much all the FM stations in my area, but I bet the reception would be even better if they use a long wire antenna instead. I can auto-scan all the FM stations into the memory but it seems impossible to edit/delete any of the stations frequency in the memory. The poorly-written manual is not helping at all. I tried to play music out of the USB stick but was unable to do so. USB-mode was never one of the choices when pressing the mode button. I played around with all buttons but still no lucky to figure it out. ... show more

  • Fun receiver, especially for outdoors
Color: AK-35(30W+30W RMS Power)
The media could not be loaded. We've been struggling to find a decent solution for our 2nd set of outdoor speakers and this seemed like a good fit. It's a bit lower powered than our other set of self powered speakers, but definitely puts out enough power. Set up is super easy and the bluetooth and radio work quite well. I do wish it had a proper antenna instead of the wire, but it gets the job done. I haven't tried out the usb or flash, as it seems pointless unless completely isolated from a signal. Overall it does a good job. It gets to a pretty loud volume on our 5.25" outdoors speakers and a decent volume on out 6.5" outdoor speakers. Sound quality could definitely be better, you can immediately tell it is a digital amp due to the background static, even when basically at mute. Radio signal could definitely be improved with a proper antenna. Once you get the volume up a bit the background static is no longer noticeable with music, but you can still hear it if listening to a talk show or podcast type of thing. At this lower price range, it does a great job to easily bring sound anywhere. I hope they make a weatherproof version at some point. ... show more
