Im about ~200lbs at the time I wrote this, I work at home and I look like it! I needed a little peddle assist to keep up with the kids if you know what I mean. With this bike, it is downhill both ways! I have had a number of bikes throughout my life, and this one is definitely punching above its weight for the price. You can still move your legs and peddle manually if you want the exercise, or to extend the battery range by peddling with the peddle assist. It's not too heavy, but IT IS heavier than a normal mountain bike for sure. It charges fast, and the battery seems to stay charged forever. I am still on my first charge and ive gone about 20 miles. It still has about 70-80% full. Thats because I only use the peddle assist half the time, and I don't climb more than a few dozen feet elevation, up to a hundred or so feet. It was also fast and easy to assemble. Summary This is a MUCH higher quality bike than you would get for a non-electric bike at walmart for the same price. I bought the Heybike Race Max as a Christmas present for myself. I have a normal mountain bike but I want to start long distance trail riding so I figured I'd look into an E-Bike. After researching and watching a few reviews I decided to give this one a try. I am so glad I did. For reference, I'm 5'9 and 250 pounds and this bike has no trouble pulling me around. I also have not had any problem stopping with the factory brakes. The height of the bike fits me perfectly. I love the way this bike looks. The black and yellow work great together. I color matched my accessories and it looks great. The only modification I did was I put a fork extender to raise the handlebars and installed some fenders. I have now put around 70 miles on it and it's mostly been off-road. My trail of choice is the Air Line State Park Trail. I've ridden on asphalt, packed soil, mud, through puddles, railroad ballast and sand. I've ridden up rocky areas which unfortunately caused me to snap my chain. Luckily because this has a hub motor I was able to use the throttle and get to the road and ride back 8 miles up and down hills. Once reaching 34 MPH. The chain was an easy fix and I was off for another couple of hours of riding. A few weeks ago I went for another long ride. This time I was around mile 15 and I got a flat. The valve stem broke. I know someone stated that it cost a lot to change the rear tire but I found it easy to replace the tube. I did not need to remove the hub. I loosened the tire nuts, removed the 2 brake caliper bolts and slid the caliper off. I was able to slide the tube right out and put the new one in within minutes. I'm thinking I'd be able to do the same with the tire. Overall, I don't think I could have found a better bike for the money. ... show more

The good: Easy to assemble. Comfortable to ride. Display is very nice and easy for a beginner to put together and ride for a starter bike. Fun ride! The bad: I am missing one of two handlebar screws, a usb cord, and I paid extra for fenders and did not receive either. I also may have an extra part that I notice wasn’t an item I should have received on my parts list.(?) I am hoping it didn’t fall off in transit. Initially the breaks didn’t squeak, but after using multiple times, the breaks do begin the squeak. There is a noise I hear when getting up to the higher speeds with the bike, although I’m unsure what it is. I called the number provided to reach hey bike support (when I received the bike on Saturday) and they said Amazon would contact me on Monday during business hours to remedy the issues. Still no word to date from anyone. I will update as soon as I hear from someone regarding missing parts. Update: I received the fenders a week later. Very cheap and didn’t provide all pieces required to put both fenders on. I had to purchase aftermarket pieces to fit the front fender on. There is also no video showing how to put the fenders on. I had to search the internet to identify some similar fenders to see how they install them. Easy to put on after all said and done. Overall: The fenders aren’t worth the additional $449 payment. I would purchase the $350 basic version (knowing the bike may not have all the parts) and buy additional parts as you need them from a third party. After 3 months and 1,000 miles, I’m pleased to share my experience with this e-bike. I primarily use it as a moped for my daily 10-mile commute each way, and it has proven to be very reliable. The claimed 30-mile range on throttle alone is accurate, making it perfect for my needs. I noticed that the max speed is actually 22 mph rather than the advertised 28 mph. To achieve the correct speed, you need to adjust the bike's tire diameter setting to 24.5 inches. Despite this minor adjustment, the performance is solid. The handlebar design is notably comfortable, which is a great benefit for long commutes. I added mudguards, as shown in the photos, which have been a worthwhile upgrade. They significantly help in light rain and puddles, keeping you cleaner and more comfortable. A slight drawback was having to replace the rear tires at around 700 miles due to them becoming bald. My commute is mainly on asphalt, so I opted for a “stiffer” compound tire which has worked perfectly. I also encountered a foggy screen issue, but the Hey Bike team was quick to respond and sent a replacement promptly. Their customer service has been excellent throughout. Overall, my experience with this e-bike has been very positive. It’s reliable, comfortable, and the customer service is top-notch.
