Description

This product is the combination of a disassembled Herm Sprenger prong collar quick-release Black SS martingale training collar with the traditional fastener plate replaced by a custom (not Herm Sprenger) easy-to-use quick snap buckle. The enhanced buckle greatly improves the experience for both you and your dog. Please measure your dog's neck before selecting the correct size to purchase. A pinch collar (also called a prong collar) is a type of metal chain placed around your dog’s neck. Many dog trainers claim that the pinch collar is the most effective collar type tool in training your dog and getting the desired behavior, and is actually safer than many traditional collars that put sustained higher pressure on the dog’s neck and throat.★ Positive punishment is an effective training choice ★Positive punishment is a technique used by dog trainers and owners when altering the behavior of their dog. This is what positive punishment does. In psychology, when a negative consequence follows a certain behavior, the person or in this case, the dog, avoids the said behavior just to avoid the negative consequence.★ Pinch Collars are safer AND more effective than other collar types ★Many professional trainers claim that pinch collars are the most effective collar type you can use to train your dogs. Other collar types “squeeze” the neck, and this is both dangerous for the dog and less effective as it does not provide the short, concentrated input like a pinch. Much like humans, a pinch will definitely grab your attention but is ultimately harmless. Measure the size and choose the right collar for your dog A good dog pinch collar will never puncture your dog's skin. Purchasing the right type and size of prong collar lessens the likelihood your dog will experience discomfort while wearing it. Collars are divided by weight, so know how much your dog weighs before selecting a collar

  • The difference in quality is undeniable
Size: Small/Medium (14-19" Neck, 2.25mm Links)
There is no comparison between the cheap knock offs you find and this product. You can feel the difference in quality when you hold it. It is sturdy and well constructed without feeling like they just threw more material at it to make up for the lack of precision engineering. I was able to quickly and easily remove links to get a perfect custom fit for my pup BY HAND with no tools. The cheap version I was using had me using a pair of needle nose pliers trying to squeeze the prongs which kept slipping from the pliers, and I was sure I was going to impale my hand in the process. The buckle attaches easily and securely. The other main point is the difference in quality of how the collar "activates" and equally distributes pressure so your pup quickly and safely receives the correction message you're sending down the leash. I'm a huge proponent in whatever I do to have the right tool for the job. I love my pup and part of that is that sometimes he needs to be taught where a boundary is for his own good and/or safety. Having this product allows me to be able to communicate that to him effectively. ... show more

  • Perfect!
Size: Large/X-Large (20-25" Neck, 3.2mm Links)
Fits well, easy on and off, appears to be well made, walking my fur baby is a pleasure, no more pulling, we are both happy

  • Very pleased with this quality of life improvement
Size: Black SS Large 3.2mm
The collar I received sure seems to be actual Herm Sprenger. The buckle makes this type collar so much easier to use than trying to squeeze a section and get the prongs lined up as HS designed it. This is even more the case if your pup doesn't sit perfectly waiting for you to figure it out. I dislike the design where the buckle is on the "Martingale" portion as it requires sliding the prongs over the dog's head which I worry would end up with poked eyeballs. Initially I was concerned that the small buckle would be a weak link. It is actually all metal and very strong. I pulled as hard as I could trying to make it fail, considerably more force than a dog could possibly put on it, and the buckle stayed closed. I really like the black color as I feel the chrome is too garish. I think you effectively only lose one segment's worth of prongs. The modification Derek's Goods does is very good quality and I wanted to take the time to say so. ... show more

  • Only drawback is that it leaves a grayish line on dog's neck
Size: Small/Medium (14-19" Neck, 2.25mm Links)
This collar is great. I've used the original for other Labs, but decided to try this "easy close" latch style for my new Lab... terrific, easy to use even with a wiggly puppy. The only downfall is that something rubs off the links and leaves a grayish "ring" around my white Lab's neck. OK, I can wash that off my beautiful puppy's fur, but Im wondering if it will every stop. How long can a sort of tarnish (for lack of a better word) continue? I rank this collar 5* because it does the job and the latch is easy. ... show more

  • The leather that is attached to the clasp stretches.
Size: Large/X-Large (20-25" Neck, 3.2mm Links)
The product is advertised as a Herm Sprenger but the leather on it is not. So, it stretches over time and quite quickly if you have a strong dog. I have a Bullmastiff pup not quite 10 mths old. He is very big and STRONG. He went from 66lbs to100 pounds in about a month and a half. When I first got the collar it worked very well. But lately I have to keep adjusting the collar. He grows sometimes literally overnight. So I didn’t think much of it. But when I had to continually adjust the collar I looked at it more closely. I then realized that of course the metal links were not moving. He was stretching out the leather that the metal clasps were attached to. He is a very, very sweet, playful BIG and STRONG puppy. I had to get a prong collar because I couldn’t control him otherwise based on his strength. He has been to two classes for socialization and obedience and he has passed each one with flying colors. He is on his third class for extra training and socialization. He is now 10 mths, still doing very well and growing in weight and strength. Now he is starting to develop his natural guard tendencies. He starting to bark at people and other dogs. I switched to a Herm Sprenger that has the metal clasps. All of the trainers that he has had in his classes suggested it. Also the top canine trainer for the state in which I live in also recommended it. The Herm Sprenger prong collar is great! I got the metal clasp one that makes it easier to take on and off. Fantastic times now with my boy and I. I feel now that I am confident and able too control his strength and actions in any situation! ... show more
