It comes with plastic covers for the jaws and the tightening plate, however this vice will not fit on a really thick work bench. I lost the use of my left hand due to a cerebral hemorrhage, so opening things is often difficult for me. This little vise is almost like having another hand. I can open the vise by turning the handle with my [fully functional] right hand, position an object like a bottle of eye drops, a tube of lip balm, or the like in the vise, and hold the object in place with my thumb and forefinger while turning the handle with my little finger to tighten the vise. Then I can use my strong right hand to pull or twist that cap right off. This hard-working little vise is a significant improvement over the previous model offered here (see photo). The handle on the latter featured little rubber caps on each end, and the caps were prone to coming off, falling to the floor and disappearing. Then there was nothing to prevent the handle itself from sliding off and similarly vanishing. The current model features a handle that is one continuous rod of steel , with a knob of steel on each end. This handle will stay put, and since a vise without a handle is essentially useless, this is an important improvement. This vise isn't dirt-cheap, but I think the current model is well worth it. ... show more

Only one flaw that I’ve noticed but it tends to affect function significantly. The lock for the rotation is always in the way and never seems to lock or stay locked correctly. Overall this thing's size makes it very specific to obviously smaller projects. So far, I have only used it to regrip golf clubs. And its been great for that. Even with the rubber vise that comes included with most golf regripping kits, there is just enough space to keep the club steady-see photos. The only down side is the clamp that mounts to the surface is very small, I think its like 1.3 inches or something. That is where this will deter the majority of users. Luckily for me, the table I use is relatively thin at only 1 inch at the edges, so it works for me. The build material is hefty- this is all steel- no plastic parts. For regripping clubs, it works. Not perfect, but for $20 its does what I need. ... show more

So far it's working but it makes a wicked snapping sound when adjusting the clamp mechanism. I will be surprised if it doesn't break soon. Looks cute, is small and handy so far though.

It's a vise... It does exactly what a vise should. It's a great tool to have on hand, and easily portable. You can change from the table mount to screws very easy. Other than it coming with th slightest amount of rust in a few spots ( which I don't care, its just rust but I know others would feel different) it does the job exactly how it should ... show more

Likes: it works. It's easy to assemble and easy to use. Stable, it feels sturdy. Perfect for small crafts! . Dislikes: oh my god it stinks. It smells strongly of plastic. I put it in a box and everything in the box smells like plastic/rubber now. Also the rubber grips for the vice don't stay on perfectly. . Overall: excellent value for under $20! ... show more
