THE PRODUCT PERFORMED AS EXPECTED UNTIL A WEEK AFTER THE RETURN END ELIGIBILITY DATE. THEN CONTROLLS RAPIDLY FAILED - FIRST FOR A SHORT PERIOD AND SHORTLY AFTER FAILED COMPLETELY.

I have extensive experience in hearing healthcare. I ordered this out of curiousity. It is an amplifier that looks like a hearing aid. It is labeled as an amplifier and should not be confused for anything else despite how it looks. There is not a way to customize the sound to a particular level of hearing loss at individual frequencies. Hearing loss or ability varies depending on the frequency tested. Hearing aids customize amplification to each frequency to ensure you are not receiving over amplification or under amplification at each frequency. A custom fitted hearing aid accounts for areas where hearing is normal or diminished. This product does zero accomodation for these factors. This product takes incoming sound and boosts the level across the board. This means you could be over amplifying or under amplifying sounds. If you have no means of obtaining a custom fitted hearing aid this is likely going to provide a level of ampification that may be percieved as beneficial although not ideal. This product has no way to determine speech from background noise and will amplify both equally. This can make speech discrimination in noisy settings challenging. People often confuse amplification of speech with automatic improvement in speech understanding. For some people amplifying sound will have little improvement on speech understanding. Speech understanding is something that is tested before recommending a hearing aid. It is tested at normal conversational level and also with amplification to determine if a hearing aid will be beneficial. This is why seeing a trained professional is a best case scenario. It is important to determine what type of hearing loss is present and if any other treatment may be needed. ... show more
