Was easy to pair with a smartphone, felt great in the ears, and did amplify voices and sounds when in the highest setting. Works well for phone calls as well.

These have three different volume settings, low medium, and high. The high is pretty loud. They are very lightweight and can be worn for an extended period of time without getting ear fatigue, they are very comfortable. I primarily use these for birding to hear the different bird sounds in the woods. I have also used them to watch tv late when my family is sleeping so I wouldn’t disturb them. They are a fairly good quality and I was surprised on how well they performed. I was worried because they were inexpensive that they would be terrible quality, but they ended up exceeding my expectations. ... show more

Although they don’t fit discreetly inside the ear like a quality hearing aid, they do resemble I-pods so folks who are concerned about others noticing your hearing amplifier shouldn’t have that concern. I felt I got the best results by using a moderate volume setting… less background noise. It’s amazing how much noise a refrigerator makes when your hearing is amplified. I did get some feedback sometimes when my hand approached the amplifier to adjust the sound. I am puzzled as to how that occurred as I don’t have any jewelry on. These rechargeable hearing amplifiers are “Pod”-styled. They pod that goes in to the ear is solid; there are no rubber pads as seen in the Amazon listing’s first image (they are depicted correctly in the other images). I had some challenges getting these in place as I am not a pod user, and once in they don’t feel secure like other types of hearing amplifiers (or aids); they did not fall out but again, didn’t feel as secure as I would like. There is one control touch button on each amplifier to adjust volume. Sound quality was pretty good for conversations. The volume levels are such that I consider them to be for those with mild to perhaps moderate hearing loss. Using them to watch TV was a little “tinny” to me but again, acceptable. The listed battery life has 2 different specifications in the Amazon listing, while the manual (that I am relying on) indicates a 1–2-hour charge provides 17-19 hours of working time and a fully charged case can charge the 2 devices 3-4 times. These hearing amplifiers come with a charging / storage case, a USB C charging cord, a cleaning tool, and the manual. If I were more of a pod fan, I would find them to be handy as a back-up pair of amplifiers; they’re pretty good overall. As I had noted in my more recent hearing aids / amplifiers reviews in this price range ($69.99 US at the time of this review), Bluetooth is an important feature that I would look for over these. For me these are 3+ star devices good enough to be rounded up to 4 stars. ... show more

    • Too much hissing
The hissing was so loud it made these impossible to use for me. They would be fine for closer quarters, but I needed them for a large meeting where people insist on mumbling and not speaking into their microphones. It's definitely an amplifier, so when I turned it up high enough to hear the speakers across the room, rustling paper and coughing close by became thunderous. I didn't have any problems with their basic functioning. I didn't like that the beeps for volume adjustment are audible to others nearby. ... show more

I bought this amplifier for my uncle and after few days of using he really likes it. It is obviously not as good as the hearing aids that cost thousands of dollars but if it’s low price it is worth every penny. This thing WORKS. It is comfortable, looks nice, easy to use, fits well, and battery life is really good. Really recommended, per uncle’s experience. TOJOCK MODEL # NJ 816A (Pair) WHITE POD STYLE HEARING AMPLIFIER with Volume Control. Kit includes two amplifiers, Right & Left Ear, Charging/Storage Cradle with top, USB Charging Cable ( NO AC Power Module ), Cleaning Brush and User Manual. Customer Support Details in User Manual. The Devices arrived ready to use as previously charged. Placed on personally supplied AC CHARGER MODULE overnight for full charge. When taken from the charging cradle these amplifiers turn on automatically. The only control is Volume which is activated by tapping the outside of the individual Amplifier. Internal beeps alert as to which Volume Level selected. In my experience and use these units are very susceptible to feedback ( squeal ) when near another person close, as in HUG, or being close to high back chair. In use they are clear and moved easily between sound levels. These are POD Style Amplifiers that fit the ear in hanging style. FOR ME they do not work well in movement as they fall out of my ears.
