  • A Geezer's best friend.
I try to be a pretty self-reliant guy, but often times, I need to use a magnifying glass. I'm a month short of 65. I have great glasses, but far too many times, I've almost needed a third hand, when trying to use a magnifying glass. That's why I decided to go ahead and buy these. If you do any home networking, you have to deal with your modems and routers, and, for that matter, if you have a home entertainment system, you often find yourself trying to read the labels on where the HD cable, or sound cable gets plugged in. I have a great T-P Link 3-channel router, that I love, and it works like a charm. But whenever you have to check it, such as if your cable goes out or your internet goes down, you have to get the factory password (which I have learned to NEVER change,) which is printed on the bottom of the router. The problem is, they usually use about a 4 point font for this, and the characters are often no taller than 1/8 inch. And, I keep my router on top of the stereo cabinet, because the higher you place it, the fewer things there are to impede its signal. Anyway, recently I had to get the router number for a tech support person when my Internet went down, so I had to stand on a chair, grab the router, and rotate it until I could read the numbers. This magnifier certainly helped me read the PW more easily, than trying to lift, rotate the unit to read it, while holding a standard magnifying glass in another hand. I also repair my own power tools sometimes, and often, there are times when you just need a closer look. These let you do more work and be more productive when you need to work on something, anything, because it leaves both of your hands free. They are worth it. ... show more

  • Perfect accessory to wear when fencing stolen diamonds or art
Thanks to 50 year old eyes, I now own two magnification headsets in addition to reading glasses. My hobbies involve manipulation and repair of tiny hardware parts, including repairing stylish, overpriced European reading glasses frames and other expensive hardware, where a stripped screw or bolt might turn into a permanent loss of hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. The two headsets I use are the (1) YOCTOSUN LED lighted head magnifying visor, and (2) Magnify Labs headband magnifier headset. The Yoctosun is a modern white plastic gadget with built in LEDs for light source. The Magnify Labs headset is the classic 1970’s looking jewelers headset you see old dudes wearing in movies while they check out stolen goods or forged documents in a dimly lit back room. The Yoctosun is almost perfect. Complaints: (1) the lenses are not great - my eyes only focus with them in a very specific small range of object placement, or they make me dizzy. (2) The LEDs feel limited in light spectrum - the light they generate is artificial and harsh, which is to be expected at this price point. But I would pay more for better lighting, so I don’t need to wear a second headset for light. A Nichia E21A in 4500k, or a 219BT-V1 R9080 sw/nw in 4000-4500K would be perfect for aging male eyes that already lose parts of the color spectrum (which cheap LEDs make worse). The Magnify Labs headset is ugly, feels cheap, but fits comfortably, and the lenses are fantastic. TL;DR: Yoctosun - -Fits like glasses, light, and looks modern. -Fast and easy to change lenses. -Built in light source. -Lenses and light source are cheap quality, but…it’s $18. Magnify Labs: -High quality glass lenses -Fits over whole head. Must remove hat. -No light source. -Changing lenses requires adding/removing tiny screws you may need another magnifier to see. -Perfect accessory to wear when fencing stolen diamonds or art. I’d pay over $100 for a Yoctosun like design, with high quality glass lenses, and a quality Nichia LED emitter, but I haven’t found anything like this yet. ... show more

  • Good for the price.
I like that the optics are glass. They magnify really well, and are very clear. But I only gave it four stars because you have to take the headband off to change optics, and I have to go back and forth between levels of magnification. It's very sturdy and comfy on the head.

  • Very useful, and great customer service
Every pair of eyeglasses that I buy tend to loosen up and allow the lens to pop out all too often. This is the main reason for my purchase of these magnifiers. It is impossible to see the heads of those tiny screws even with a spare pair of glasses on, nor can I hold a magnifying glass, a pair of eyeglasses, and a screwdriver all at the same time! So frustrating! I did not need lighted magnifiers for this purpose, just something that works hands-free. It has an adjustable head-band, and the magnifiers are positioned far enough from my eyes that I can keep my spare prescription glasses on while working. The product is not what I would call solidly made, as everything except the magnifying lenses is plastic. And the lenses fit onto the frame via little bumps that snap into plastic holes in the frame. I can see the possibility that the hole will enlarge and the bumps will become loose if popped in and out very much. However, for now they work perfectly well for me. The set of lenses that I received, I realized quite a bit later, had a duplicate set of 2.5x lenses and no 3.5x lenses. The return date had passed, but I communicated with the seller through the Amazon feedback process, and they very quickly sent me a complete additional set. So I am hugely pleased with the customer service and quick response to correct that error. ... show more

  • Fit & function
Great quality, glass lens assortment. Real nice fit and function. Way less money than the "D" brand name. (ask me how I know) Tool and die maker 43 years. These are of lighter weight construction but who cares I'm not using them for batting practice. "IT'S FINESSE, NOT BRUTE FORCE". This is a tool that needs to be taken care of. That is used for Delicate work not a sledgehammer. Should last a long, long time. Good looking too. I am pleased and would purchase again. ... show more

  • Good quality, comfortable for all day wear.
Magnification is very clear. One with an attached light would have been even more helpful. Purchased for very tiny parts production work.
