I got this for my wife, she has a paint shop where she does furniture refinishing, and has such dozens of cans and bottles of paint. I built the shelves to put the paint on, and she wasn’t using them because she couldn’t reach the top shelf. We had a small ladder which just didn’t feel very safe. This is a great step ladder. I use it for replacing light bulbs and some other overhead work. The steps are large for someone with less balance, and it is very light for easily moving around my home. So I will be able to use it even when I'm older (as long as it holds up). My kids 10 and 12 use this to reach things in the kitchen and closet. I have about 20 ladders in my shop. All either too short, too heavy, too rickety to let me work at an 8 to 10 foot height. I just put up pegboard for tools that I don't use all the time but want to be able to see them when I need them. This looked perfect. I read the reviews so I knew there were some issues. Sure enough mine does as well but still happy with it. First the Sex-Bolts are not the best choice for a ladder. The reviewers that show them broken makes sense. The instructions show the top ones being put in backwards. There is a solid shoulder on the one side with a screw on the other. The shoulder side should be put where the pivot load will be, not the other way around. What they should have is shoulder bolts with cap nuts. Then that whole issue would be fixed. Second, the molding of the plastic accessory shelf is smooshed shut. They are clearly running the Polypropylene too hot and not letting it cool for about 5 more seconds in the mold before ejecting it. I worked the plastics industry for 40 years. I understand that 5 seconds over thousands and thousand of shots can translate to a lot of money but not as much as bad press. Third, I was up on the ladder and it 'shifted' to the point I almost fell off. I thought it was my mistake. Maybe I didn't have it as squared as I thought. However, it is on flat concrete and it did it's 'shifting' every time I got on it. I don't like that at all and it is the only reason for loosing a star in this review. Bottom line for me is that it gets me to the height I need. It is lightweight. It folds and hangs up, out of the way. That is what I was looking for so I am happy. ... show more

I bought this to get into the clamshell rooftop on the top of my Dodge caravan during a road trip. It was very sturdy and it fit between the roof rack and the roof of the vehicle perfectly. It is a little complicated at times to fold up, sometime the hinges swing the wrong way and you have to manually adjust them. It definitely will hold the weight that it says it will hold and it was much better than climbing into the floor of the van and then standing on the running boards when we had a lot of things to load into the top. The feet are sturdy and they didn't sink into the dirt for the most part. The paint is a high quality powder coat type finish that seems very durable. The top step is broad enough for most people to sit on, I'm a pretty large person and I could sit on it. I wouldn't use it for hours as a chair but if you wanted to sit on it momentarily to check your phone or something like that it's just fine and it's a good height. like others here, I have many ladders, but none the perfect height for my 10 foot ceilings in my garage, so I shopped for a 4 step ladder with a price point of 100 bucks - I read many of the reviews and saw all the many great ones vs. a few very bad ones too . . . "warning design flaw" . . . '"shifts too easily" . . . "warning young will Robinson" . . . but I decided to take a chance since the good reviews far outnumbered the bad, and I figured if it truly was unsafe, I would just send it back to the great Zon, no questions asked - I built it and then tested it on my floors - tile, wood and cement/very common floors in every house in America - like others here, I am a big boy - 6'3", 295 (if I skip breakfast), and I found NO/ZERO FLAWS OR SHIFTING - and I rocked 'n rolled on it too, trying to get it to shift - nutt'n honey! COMPLETELY SAFE! if you have requirements like mine above, you should get this ladder . . . and if for some strange reason you feel unsafe on it, send it back - easy peasy hope this helps someone out there ... show more

It was a replacement. First one had scratches and green overpaint on black hinge. This one looks great and easy to lift for this senior citizen.
