Top Amazon Reviews

  • An affordable perfect security option
Note: This is my review for a previous model, though applies to this one as well with some edits. For it's price, the HAWKRAY Wireless Outdoor Security Camera does have quite a few functions that place it a cut above from other types of security cameras. You'll get a lot of bang for your buck here. It doesn't quite measure up to the Ring security cameras, which I will detail in a bit. First off, the picture quality. The picture quality is really quite remarkable for a $40+ camera. It records in 1080p (you can toggle between standard or high definition) and has a fantastic night vision mode. There's also a micro SD card unit for you to save videos, or you can subscribe for three different tiers of cloud storage. You can also communicate two way with the camera, and access a static photo or live feed if you feel so inclined. Setup and the camera itself are relatively easy to install and mount. You'll need to be near a router to complete this setup. You can also easily unscrew the camera from it's base if you ever need to update it, or charge it. It detects, pets, cars, and people and can tell when a pet is being accompanied by a human being, which is also very helpful! A few caveats. First off, the camera itself does not record continuously. It is only activated by motion sensor. So anytime the camera detects anything, you will get an alert on your phone. Which is very helpful, but not so much if you have people going in and out everyday. You can put the camera on "Do not disturb" if you don't mind about receiving notifications should anything shady occur on your property. It will record, but you won't know if it does happen. As far as I can tell, it starts and stops anytime it detects new movement. The camera only records in several second intervals, as opposed to one continuous stream until it no longer detects any movement. If you upgrade, you can unlock longer record times. Where you place the camera is also very important. It cannot be outside of the WiFi's range, or else it won't sync with your app. You can access it anywhere, but you cannot place the camera too far outside of your own range. You won't be able to update it or pretty much use it, as far as I can tell if it is in fact outside of the perimeter. Having spotty WiFi range will drain your battery as the camera is constantly having to resync and for some reason, record shadows constantly. If you don't have a solar panel connected, then you will likely have to charge your camera a week if it is out of the range. Lastly, the placement of the camera itself is a huge factor. You'll definitely want to place it in an area where the camera has enough time to capture the motion. I have mine towards the beginning of a decent sized driveway, so we can easily see when the mailman or Amazon drivers drop off a package. I have a view of everyone who arrives or leaves the house, which is helpful in a shared housing situation, but opt to disable it on my end for privacy concerns for the the others. The battery life is advertised as lasting about 3-6 months. I wasn't able to confirm since my range has been finicky, but it good placements I've gotten a month. I do not currently have the solar panel connected, but I recently added the updated version a week ago and it's still sitting at 100% at the time of me writing this. Overall, for the price it's a more than capable camera. It won't solve all of your home security issues, but if you're looking for a cheap option and you don't mind not having 24/7 constant recorded surveillance vs motion sensor (Or if you live with roommates or a building that you don't own) this is a great way to circumvent a lot of the headache. ... show more

  • Great camera's at an excellent price - get yourself several...
The media could not be loaded. First of all, I have to say after having bought several of these camera's, setup and installation cannot be beat. They are wireless and the batteries last a long time as long as you don't have them setup on a busy street corner or something like that. Note: Reviews that say you need to pay monthly $ for infrared/nightime motion sensing is nonsense. The free plan has nightvision infrared the same as for day time use. You don't need to have the monthly plan to use these camera's. You still have nightvision, audio, spotlight and alarm controls. For monitoring areas around the home that don't get much traffic, these camera's are excellent. The app is user-friendly and easy to use after installed. You can eliminate many false triggers by turning the motion settings to low setting. This seems to be a good setting for my use. Will pick up animals and critters and humans coming into its field of vision with no problems. You will want to adjust the camera angle when you mount it so that it's not aiming at the street or you will pick up all the vehicles that go by and reduce your battery life. It will also alert you via the phone app when motion is detected and its rather quick to let you know. Each camera comes with professional high quality packaging as well as a bracket and hardware for installing them. I have one on a tree, and a couple around the house. Its amazing to see what kind of stuff goes on outside when you're not looking. Their range seems to be very good as I have a couple that are pretty far away from my wi-fi router. Battery life seems to be very good as long as you don't have a million detections a day. I've actually gone a couple of months on some of the cameras before needing a charge. A cool software feature on the app that is rarely mentioned is the ability to set the camera to only work during certain hours or 'turn-off' during certain hours. Helps in some situations... I've attached a short video of a critter that was caught on camera... it only allowed me to post one video otherwise I would have put a couple more on... Overall, I would recommend this purchase, especially at this price. After using them for over 6 months, I can say they are high quality and reliable. ... show more

  • Excelent cámara!!!!
The product is great. So easy to install and download. Once App installed the program is easy to understand. It does what its supposed to do(Motion Monitoring) super clear picture, voice and other excellent things the camera provides. You can speak to someone, flashes when detecting movements. Overall I think this is great for the price. Will definitely be buying a couple more. ... show more

  • Love my Hawkray cams
Very easy to set up, I have had 2 for just over a year now. They have performed perfectly for me. I waited to write the review because I wanted some time to see how they did. The chare on them only last me about a month and a half, but I have 2 boys that are in and out all the damn time. Video quality is good, being able to put them on snooze during the day when I'm home has helped improve battery life. They charge quickly, and connect to my wifi automatically. I'm about to add 2 more because I'm having issues with fox taking my chickens. ... show more
