  • Batteries not included; fun but possibly defective ear
Before you buy, you should know this game requires 4 “C” batteries that are not included. There are only 3 nets in this version. (I remember older versions having four). I’m not sure if it was just a defective piece, but one of my elephant’s ears won’t stay on (see pictures). I tried everything I could to get it on, but it just keeps falling out without even touching the elephant. I would play without it, but I think it’s an important piece to the game because otherwise, air will escape through its ear hole, lessening the blowing power for the butterflies to go up the tube. I can get it to stay on for a few minutes of the game, but it doesn’t usually make it to the last butterfly flying out. The other ear is perfect, and I have no problems with it staying on whatsoever. Elefun the Elephant is a fun game that I remember playing as a kid. I wanted to share this fun experience with my daughter, but it just doesn’t seem as great of a game as I remember it. It’s probably just a rosy retrospective, but I don’t remember having to wait so long for the butterflies to come out. Even with full batteries, it’s a long wait for the butterflies to get going out of the tube and between bursts of one or two butterflies at a time (if you’re lucky). It might not actually be that long, but I notice for a child, it’s a bit too long to stay entertained, especially when it looks like butterflies are going up the tube but then fall back down. I’ve changed the batteries twice and still haven’t noticed a change in how well the butterflies pop out. Overall, my daughter does enjoy playing this game when the butterflies pop out, and she loves running around to collect the un-caught butterflies to refill the trunk. It’s still really worth seeing the happiness and joy on her face every time a butterfly flies out and she tries collecting it. I’m happy with my purchase mainly because of that. ... show more

  • Found out how to make it last longer
So when I was younger I remember the butterflies being a bit better and def more than 15-20 and I remember there being like a black or old one which was the special one. Any ways my mom had some tissue paper squares which pretty much is what the butterfly’s are made of. So we just twisted the squares loaded up the elephant and bam we get 30 seconds to a minute of the butterflies flowing out. ... show more

  • Cute Game
This game is adorable! Reviews were left about the butterflies not making it all the way up & out of the trunk & our game had the same issue. I cut the trunk in half & fixed that issue! Our little toddlers love this toy. They played with it for an hour. We made more butterflies from a breathable cloth to make the rounds last longer too. Once I removed the toy for the night, they kept asking to play & I know they will enjoy this one for a while! It’s cute, fun sounds/song, & entertaining. ... show more

  • Ear never stayed on from Day one
My kids had this game as children and loved it. The game now is smaller in size and has the same concept but seems cheap. From day one, one ear did not stay on. The butterflies often get stuck and need coaxing by tapping on the elephant trunk. I contacted the company because of the faulty ear and I thought they were sending me a replacement, but a totally different game arrived which was a more advanced game and almost impossible for me to assemble. When I contacted them again, they said it was their policy to offer any game replacement based on what was available. So, a bit disappointed, but the game is still usable. ... show more

  • Works but over in seconds
We were surprised at first that the plastic wasn't clear, it was a translucent white. The plastic does have 2 creases & is thick enough to stand up. Was surprised also that the butterflies don't look like butterflies. It's square material pinched in the middle & sewn in a bow-shape. The material is a little stiff but durable enough that they survived my 1 yr old stepping on them. I didn't have any problem with the elephant falling over like other customers. But we had ours on solid ground. So might be a carpet issue (that others said they used a book to help). When turned on, the plastic tube stood up (with help to get it up initially, then stays up on it's own). It started up with an elephant sound then played cute music the entire time it's on. It shot the butterflies out in 3 iterations, no problems coming out. They seem to fall fast but seem to her slower as they get closer to the ground as if they were finally catching air. Next time I'll try putting it on a coffee table or something to see if it gets more air time. It'd be nicer if they found a way for it to glide down slower. It doesn't have much spread/spray, staying close to the elephant. And then it was done. In about 20 seconds. Game is super short. The kids liked it & it held their attention, but after disconnecting the snout & reloading 10 times in 3 minutes, it's a bit high maintenance for the parent & you soon can't wait for the kids to get their fill. Not a game for 30 minutes. Maybe 5-10 minutes. Luckily it's easy to set up & put away. Though I worry that it doesn't fit in the box with the ears on & that over time repetitive ear removal that the ears will wear & won't stay in. It has 3 nets (I was surprised not 4 but that was my assumption.) Small team individual competition. Overall it's a good game except being so high maintenance that it gets old fast (at least for the parent). Would've given it 5 stars if it had: 1. More butterflies (maybe one day I'll try feathers & see what happens?) (Extra perk if they found a way to make it look actual butterflies) 2. More nets to go with more butterflies so 5-6 kids could play. 3. If the butterflies glided down slower to give the kids more opportunity to catch it. (Lighter material?) 4. A quick reload option to be able to feed it in while the game is still going. (Like if it had a tail that had suction or something or a reload layer that after where you could stuff them in, then when it runs out hit the release button for a quick reload.) Then this would be butterfly catching fantasy awesomeness. ... show more

  • Loads of Fun
Very fun game for the kids and you find adults playing as well. Can be more difficult for very young kids to catch the ‘butterflies’. Battery life not super long but the kids love it so much just need to keep extras handy.
