  • Excellent iteration of a great card game
Trio is that type of game you play and you think, yeah, this is one is gonna see regular usage at the table from now on. The concept of the game is so simple and yet so satisfying, and you can learn the game within minutes and have multiple rounds of fun. It plays as fast as or as long as your luck, memory, strategy and intuition work. This blend of these four aspects makes each session different depending on who you play with: a family game night versus playing with hardcore gaming friends. For gamers, Trio functions as a great warmer or filler before jumping into a long gaming session. The game is just pure good fun. There are big laughs to have when you have a "gotcha!" moment with another player and you suspect that they have two of the cards you're looking for and you successfully get them to play it to the table in your favour to form a trio. On an aesthetic level, the cards are really beautiful and colourful. I also have to say this is one of my favourite boxes on my shelves; the black and gold look really good and the papel picado theme just has so much character to it. I really love Nana, the original Japanese version of this game, and I love Trio just as much. As a side note, Trio's publisher, Happy Camper Games, went above and beyond in rectifying an issue I had with my original purchase. To see such personal care and responsibility shown by the publisher is refreshing and respectable. I can easily say that Trio has quickly launched to the head of the pack in pick up and play card games I'd recommend. ... show more

  • Addictive fun as you carefully suss out where the right cards are
The rules are very simple, but it takes a minute or two for them to sink in. Stick with it! It takes one game to see what it is. But once everyone at the table gets that you're trying to locate where all the cards are and what's in each player's hand—you've turned the corner and the fun can truly begin. It's a sneaky game with an evolving narrative as people begin figuring things out. I've taught and played the game many different groups and those people playing that were into games were talking about ordering the game for themselves half way into the first game. And it's only a 15 minute game! It's so addictive! You can play again and again and what's nice is everyone can easily stay engaged. We've also had success across age levels from 10/11 up to older teens, adults, and seniors. You just need to get that first game under your belt because the game needs a few minutes to reveal itself. It's very social and the memory aspect isn't too critical—but it is important. What do you want from a casual card game? Big laughs, memorable moments, and time spent together with your family or friends. Trio has a full set of each of those qualities. Highly recommended. I expect to gift a lot of this for the holidays. It's such a perfect gift. UPDATE: I work in a dormitory with academically motivated high schoolers. It was the game of the summer for my family, but since the start of the school year it has been a big hit at school too. It's common to walk around the dormitory and see people playing it on every floor. I now believe this game will become a modern classic. It has such a "let's just play one more game" feel. So impressed by the experience it provides with such simple rules. ... show more

  • The Biggest Little Game of the Year!
This is a "family friendly" game BUT don't discount it's appeal to a wide variety of ages! This game is almost magic! It plays in 15 minutes, but feels like a game of CLUE! Basically you're trying to play a game of memory match to uncover sets of three matching numbers in a row. But while some of the cards are on the table, most of the cards are in player's hands. This little bit of information leads to some light deduction. The infallible memory abilities of younger players may give them an advantage. However, the ability to read other players reactions might benefit those with more life experience, but diminishing skill in remembering where those darn cards were. Fast to setup, fast to teach, cute and a crowd pleaser for all ages! I've enjoyed playing this with my kids and my retired parents at the same time! ... show more

  • Great for any age
This is a new classic! It’s great for any age and plays pretty quick, usually if we play once we end up laying 3 or 4 times.

  • GREAT GAME!
Simple, yet a bit complex. We haven't made it to the spicy mode yet. Kids old enough to know which numbers are less-than and greater-than can play. Enjoyable family game.

  • Easy to learn, Family Friendly, Everyone has enjoyed game
I had heard about this game from a gaming influencer. I ordered the game from Amazon right away. That same weekend we attended PAX Unplugged for the first time and the creators were there showcasing the game. My son (teenager) was drawn in to immediately try the game. He loved it and asked right away if we could buy it on the spot. I told him we had preordered the game and it was on its way. We have introduced friends and family to the game and all of them have purchased their own copy. We actually just purchased a second copy to leave at our camper! ... show more
