It was time to replace a rip-stop, foldable nylon backpack I purchased back in 2015 for travel purposes. Despite being “rip-stop” the nylon was unravelling and getting caught in the zipper. I work mostly from home. The world has reopened for travel in 2022, and the rip-stop nylon bag was not only falling apart, but too small. I need to be able to carry my work laptop on vacations with me in the event I’m not able to get home in time to work remotely. It is much bigger than the old, lime-green foldable backpack. It has padded straps. Ye olde backpack did not and gave me what I can only call rug burn when it was full and it chafed. This has quite a few exterior pockets! An especially handy one is at the top and just the right size for a spare mask and sunglasses. The larger, zippered compartment on the bottom has interior mesh pockets for keeping pens and other things organized and easy to reach. It also has a cord outlet for your spare battery charger. The top zippered pocket has a key latch—haven’t figured out how to fill this pocket just yet but I’m thinking travel documents. There are two side pockets to accommodate a shoe on each side or water bottles. Not much to say about the zippers except that they pull easily—always a good thing. The main compartment is incredibly spacious with padding for a laptop AND an ipad. (Yeah, I know. 1st world probs.) It’s also roomy enough to accommodate my dslr camera –a heavy mo’fo if I do say so. You could easily fit a pair of pants in here and a couple of shirts. Maybe even a pair of shoes. The candy-striped nylon interior is not something I would have picked, but that does make it easier to see what’s in the bag. I have not had any spills yet so cannot attest to how water/stain resistant it is. A feature of the nylon backpack I liked was the compression/cinch belt that kept the exterior pocket from bulging out too much—I used it to carry my jacket (rolled up). The two grab handles have a snap button clasp—and will be able to serve the same purpose if I’m unable to stuff the jacket into the bag itself. This bag will keep me happy for some time. I especially love the padded strap and padded back. Also to come in handy is the luggage strap on the back (slip it over the handle of your wheeled luggage). I do wish it had more interesting colors to pick from (a nice burgundy or a rusty orange, forest green?). The other colors were too bright so I went with the meh gray. UPDATE: I have since used this backpack for a long weekend trip and was able to pack in quite a bit and it still fit in the overhead bin and underneath the seat! I have no regrets. ... show more

I am super picky about my backpacks, I did some intense research after a promotion at work and started taking my laptop home with me. I needed a water-resistant backpack as I live in Alaska and snow is very prevalent most of the year. Needed to fit in my lunch bag, average size but with differing containers each day, side pockets for a 40 oz Hydroflask, a pair of gloves, charging cords, pads, toothbrush, and toothpaste. Everything fits great so far! I am a smaller person at 5", and the straps are very adjustable even with a fairly heavy load they are padded well. The extra differing size front pockets are a great addition and I put all my frequent-use items in them so they do not get lost in the main pack part. The laptop sleeve fits my 15-inch Dell work laptop great, even can sneak a standard-size notebook in with it. The back strap is nice as well to secure the laptop so it can't get jostled around from the car to and from work every day. I can put in an extra pair of shoes as well in it and my purse, a smaller size one. All told the backpack does get pretty heavy but I cannot say the comfort past 20 minutes of constant use as I only wear it to wear it from my office and to inside my house. The little leather strap for the top handles is a great addition since some days I do not feel like putting the backpack on fully and merely carrying it in. I've bought many travel backpacks over the years and this is by far my favorite. Wish I'd discovered it sooner. I wanted something a little "fancier" than the regular rugged backpacks, but still sturdy and with lots of compartments. This one totally fits the bill. It's well made, looks nice and has really well thought-out compartments. I bought this as a carry on for air travel with my laptop. I absolutely love it. It is roomy and holds laptop in place. It is easy to remove laptop for TSA inspection. I bought the green color and it is very nice. I am also really happy because I was in a hurry to select one and it arrived the same day. This was perfect for going back to school. It fits my laptop, books, notebook, 3 in binder and still has more space. It also has lots of pockets on the outside and even has compartments inside. I love the way it opens up from the top as well. Would be a good backpack to travel with as well.
