This mirror allows for a person to choose a backlight, a front light, or both. It also has a defogger for a portion of the mirror: a space large enough to see your face and comb the wet hair. The defogger button can pushed for a long period to turn off the blue button lights that act as the perfect night light in a bathroom. I could have hardwired it into the wall, but chose to have a plug in connected to the outlet placed on the wall so that I can easily change the device. If there was a digital time display, I would have hardwired. The lack of a digital clock displayed on the mirror is its only short coming for me but I didn't want to go all the way up to a "smart mirror". The mirror is wonderful and shipped without damage (though I am not sure if the hard corners used for protection can be recycled so I just threw them away). ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I never write reviews but I've purchased two of these mirrors and ended up sending back the second one because after a month or so a red light pops up on the edge of the mirrors and doesn't go off. I love the lights around it when I touch the mirror but when I turn the light off this red light stays on and does not go off. This is very disappointing knowing that I paid $400 for this and it's already defective and of course the first one I purchased has passed the time where I can return it. 😕 ... show more
