  • Durable and good quality.
Color: Multi Color
We actually used these same kind of hammocks when we lived in Chumayil Yucatan in the 1990s where most of the women and kids earned their living making them. Any of the "Hammocks Rada" hammocks are from that general area made by real Mayan people. Very comfortable and durable. We have seen some that are over thirty years old and still look good and are very strong usable. The only caution is don't have shoes or buttons or anything that can catch the threads because they will pull and snag and leave your hammock with threads hanging and not looking good. You can wash them by hand using a soft soap in a large sink or tub. Just be careful to not get the "brazos" tangled. You can avoid that by tying them in a soft knot before washing. (The brazos are the ends that form the looped ends where you hook it to the ropes to hang it for use. If these become tangled the hammock will hang incorrectly and look bad.) Although, like everything else, those who actually make them don't get the biggest share for their labor, it is still a good thing to support them by your purchases. You will also do well if you get the "Ganchas" or "S" hooks and ropes so you can just un-hook the hammock when you want to take it down. (If you have a place where you use it regularly) You can also contact Rada to get a specially made hammock. If you order a crochet hammock it will cost a lot but it is made of very fine cotton "hilo" thread and takes almost a month to make, but it is very soft and comfortable and like the local Mayans say: "It is warm in the winter and cool in summer." Have FUN!! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Very comfy and easy to get into and out. I would not leave out in weather when not in use.

  • Amazing value - From a full-time hammock sleeper
Color: Carribean
This is the fourth hammock I've bought in the ~4 years I've been sleeping in a hammock every night. I've now tried a cheap nylon camping hammock, the Vivere brazilian, this mayan hammock, and a high quality nylon hammock from Dutchware. It's hard to compare to the others, because the threading allows it to be what I call "infinitely variable". If it feels too tight under your hips or shoulders, just spread it! Even the dimension of the width is a fuzzy number, because you can probably stretch it across the whole room. I love my Dutchware in 1.6 Hexon (so far) and I like that it will be easy to wash and modify with an underquilt. I'll probably switch back and forth between the two. The fact that a hammock like this exists at this price point is reason to buy it. You can see how they are made, by hand, thread by thread. Other mayans can cost $500+, so this is a great way to have the experience without breaking the bank. The Vivere brazilian had the worst center ridge imaginable, I wonder if I got a defect. ... show more

  • Exceptionally STRONG
Color: Multi Color
Our 8 year old Rada Hammock was hung at the beginning of hammock season - (end of Spring here in north central WA). We had very strong windstorm come through a few days before the grand kids, cousins and family friends were to show up. One of the trees the hammock was attached to came down. But only part way as this hammock held it up from hitting the ground. Had to get the backhoe to lift the tree up enough to loosen the tension. The only damage to the hammock were a few of the end strings were broken off right at the hanging loop so they could not be mended. I did not think that was safe so I got online and ordered another Family sized Rada Hammock. When my daughter got here she suggested that I just tie a big knot in the end strings. That secured all the loose ends and now we have two family size quality hammocks! Both were well used that week~ I still can't believe how strong this hammock is! ... show more

  • They Had To Replace it...NOTE: USE ONLY IN THE SHADE.
Color: Multi Color
UPDATE: Their Customer Service is Awesome and they replaced my damaged Hammock immediately. HOWEVER, I will say that you do need to protect the Nylon on this. I have actually crafted some SLEEVES to hang over the nylon as it is hanging in the sunshine. large White Teeshirts or what ever color, then use a clamp to close the neck. I am not a seamstress but I am sure a clever person can craft something better. I do LOVE this hammock, just wish it help up to the sun and weather better. If you have it on a porch in the shade, I am sure you will have many happy years with it. I had to change my review.. and I am so bummed. I bought this May 31, 2016 and I even brought it in over the winter. It would appear that this is NOT meant to be in the sunshine. It is between two posts and I use it maybe a few times a week. Imagine my shegrine When I got in it and the nylon started breaking. I weigh 175 pounds. NOTE The Cotton is NOT breaking it is the many many many nylon chords. They are so super thin that the UV rays of the sun must compromise their integrity. So I haven't even gotten a years use out of it since I bring it into the garage at the end of September and didn't put it out until Last month. So either put it in the SHADE or BEWARE. ... show more
