This is a quality fishing rod, it just has a couple of major things wrong with it. After I put a reel on it I made a few practice casts with it using a sinker that I always use for dry casts. I just wasn’t getting the distance and I believe it is from the extremely small diameter eye guides. One of the pictures I have included is a comparison of the eyes with my Ugly Stick. The eyes on the Fuji are about 1/3 that of the Ugly Stick. I noticed their small size immediately after unpacking it. The next thing I found was how long the handle is. The other picture shows the extra 2-1/2” length of the handle. When I hold it in front of me, my arms are at a 45 degree angle to my body with one hand close to the reel and the other on the crank handle. The extra 2-1/2” makes a mile of extra distance. To make things worse, they put a pointed, angled butt on the end. I’ve always used my stomach as a base for the rod butt when fighting a big fish. This point will make me find another way, on my side or under my armpit. If it wasn’t for these two things, I can see that it is a quality, well made rod. ... show more
