Description

About Half Truth:Half Truth was designed by Ken Jennings, Jeopardy legend known for his 74-game winning streak, and Richard Garfield, creator of the world-famous Magic the Gathering card game. Their goal was to create a trivia game that anyone could play and enjoy, regardless of their experience. Get Out of Your Comfort Zone:Half Truth is a trivia game that will challenge you in categories you know and some you don't. Our game doesn't rely on binary knowledge about a topic. Instead, Half Truth offers clues that allow each player to play even without forward knowledge about a particular topic or category. After each game, you will walk away learning something new.Outwit the Competition:Try to figure out the three lies and deduce the truths. This game is so fun that you'll have fun even if you don’t know the answers off the bat. Games for teens and young adults don’t always hold the interest of all players. Luckily, Half Truth is perfect for any player, regardless of age, to outsmart the other making this the perfect family board game for game nights. How to Play:Everyone participates in every questionMultiple choice questions, 6 answers: 3 are correct, 3 are incorrectIf you can deduce through the process of elimination, you can cross out the incorrect answers Answer correctly and receive a pointReceive a small bonus for the second and third correct answer per roundIncludes:1 deck of Half Truth cards1 Game Board3 Round Trackers36 Answer Chips6 Player Pawns50 Victory Point TockensScoring Die1 Rulebook1 Deck Cover Card

  • Fun game
Easy to learn and very playable.

  • Don't expect it to be easy!
This is a lot of fun for all ages, but don't expect to know all of the answers. We played with 6 people for 3 days, all with 3 generations, 12 yo to 70+, several with advanced degrees. Rarely did anyone get all three right (one was the 12 yo), but more typical was one or two of the three correct. The only issue we had was trying to read the cards upside down or sideways depending on where you sat at the table, so we ended up passing the card around which extended the time needed for everyone to decide on their choices. While we were only using Deck 1 of 5, there were cards where each generation thought "Oh, I know this!" We were often wrong- resulting in a lot of laughs! I guess we are not quite as ready for 'Jeopardy' as we thought! My only suggestion for the developers would be to make the different decks "Easy", "Moderate" and "Hard", allowing the users to choose which difficulty to play. ... show more

Fun trivia game that works well with 2p.

  • The Jeopardy champ knows his games!
My wife and I love trivial pursuit and other trivia games. After going through a lot, I saw on Twitter how Ken Jennings (74 game Jeopardy champion) and Richard Garfield (creator of Magic the Gathering) made a trivia game together. Sounded promising so bought it soon after. Now my wife and I might have a new favorite trivia game! The game is pretty simple to learn. There are 6 answers and 3 are correct while the other 3 are wrong. Roll the dice to determine the amount of spaces moved for a correct answer (there are 3 rounds), place bets on how many answers you know (only 1 wrong answer and you don't get to move on that question) and then reveal the answers. It's great because there are some really interesting questions, betting is involved to make it more interesting, and even someone who may not be a trivia buff can also compete since there are quite a few educational guesses. It comes with 500 trivia cards so it will last a good while (my wife, family and I have played it quite a bit and we're on about card 150). Wouldn't expect nothing less from Ken and Richard! Highly recommend for any trivia buff! ... show more

  • Good concept but too hard
The concept of this game was great. The problem with this game is the trivia was too hard. Almost every round just required a random guess. It would have been better if there were different types of trivia/some common knowledge. I am all for a challenge but we left the game feeling defeated and bored. ... show more

  • Love this!
It's super easy to pick up, and easy to teach even the most resistant of friends/guests who are frankly tired of having to sit through board game nights where they spend 2 hours plus learning how to play the latest newfangled board game you've purchased. I love that a key aspect of this game is that everybody guesses answers at every turn. There is nothing more infuriating than when you are playing a trivia game and you are the only one who knows the answer to a very obscure trivia question and it's just not your turn. We all want to flex. Also, this board game is pretty easily adapted to playing over zoom with your friends long distance. Just log into your account with an extra phone and point down at the stimuli. The only downside is that we went through the cards in like a week. Expansion sets, please! Or is there a community where people can submit questions? ... show more

  • Great fun!
The board game you didn't know you needed. This game is great for trivia buffs and novices alike. It's also fun to play on family game nights. There's enough variety that after a handful of games we haven't had any repeats yet, and the scoring system works well so that you can easily catch up. It has the right risk-challenge-reward ratio that it stays interesting without being too challenging for most people. ... show more

  • Fun and simple, but difficult questions (Ken, you sly dog)
This game is fairly simple and straight forward once you play a couple times. We've played through one whole deck already, and while we've learned a lot, I do wish some of the questions were on the easier side. Most of them are extremely obscure and difficult to guess. Maybe if there were different levels of difficulty between decks it would be more encouraging and accessible. I'm a huge Ken Jennings fan so it's fun to see some of his personal influences on the game. ... show more
