My koi pond water was not getting any clearer after I replaced the bulbs on the existing 9V and 18V UV clarifier(both tetra and both were over 10 or 12 years old). I could no longer find replacement tetra 18v bulbs from Amazon. I had to buy it from another site and the two old UV clarifier seemed not effective anymore. I saw the bad ratings on the 36v Tetra UV clarifier and hesitated to buy that. I saw good reviews on this brand and really hesitated to buy this also as I had not heard of the brand. The reviews seemed genuinely good so I ended up giving this a shot. Some reviewers complained about difficulties with the O ring and/or hose connections. I personally simply replaced the old 18v and reconnected same hoses into this new 36v. It worked so well. After 3 days the water became much better. Ordered the Shockwave 75 watt uvc clarifier and shipping was very fast. Sadly, it failed in less than 30 hours. My return was immediately approved and a replacement shipped. It seemed the replacement arrived more quickly than the original purchase with no additional charge to my credit card and a generous 30 days to return the defective original. The replacement is working perfectly and the algae in my pond is quickly disappearing. It’s possible for any mass produced product to turn out the occasional defective unit. Had Easypro 11w in filter, submerged UV filter. Power cord kept being compromised. Couldn’t find reasonably priced repair for this unit so researched alternatives. Found this one 18w in line (not submerged) for a better price than replacing my Easypro filter (which filters excellent even without UV). i have a 125 gallon insert pond for the last 12 years, i have tried several types of uv lights and no luck. Im always worry about the harm this uv lights can cause to my fish, i had tried plants, algicides, natural remedies and so forth. nothing has help, last year my pond was green soup all year around, i knew my fish were alive because they came to surface to eat. i got this light this spring and has worked better then good, i was able to see my fish all summer, this fall cleaning to get ready for winter was so much easier. i recommend this light. my pond is smaller then what this light calls for, but it work great ... show more

The old Uv must have went out becuase the water in 1500 gal pond started to turn green from algae.. ordered a new one and withing 3 days the water was much clearer withing a week water was crystal clear again... Fish are much happier now and so are we...
