I used to wait in line at the barbershop for haircuts. But my hair style is pretty simple. Just shave the sides and 1/2” all around with the front being a bit longer. My wife offered to cut my hair and for the most part it’s okay. But I recalled the barber had the saw scissors and a few other comb that he did with the front of my hair. So I got this set to follow more closely to what they did in the shop. The set actually came with a tons of combs. And the shaving razor blade is very sharp so be careful with it. It did provide a nice clean shave on my sideburns. The set also came with a sprayer. The inner straw seems a bit long so I cut about 1/3 of it off and it closest much easier. It works pretty well since adding a bit of mist / water seem to make the hair more shapable. The set allowed my wife to get really close to what was offered outside. Somehow among my other 100 hobbies, I ended up cutting hair for family/friends/etc! I never had any fancy equipment so when I saw this kit, had to give it a try! While the combs and other plastic pieces are fine, some of the others are not great. The scissors look nice and are sharp for now but they don't seem like they would last long…but that's only assumption. The piece I was most excited about is the black cape that you put over someone to keep them clean. Unfortunately, it's not even really useable. It's so thin that you can see through it and the closure is just a tiny little tie. I'm pretty small and it was barely big enough to cover my body. So that ended up being a dud. Overall, this is good for a super basic set. If you plan on doing hair regularly or for an extended amount of time, I'd invest in something with better quality. ... show more

The scissors are absolutely the star of this kit, they are actually really good quality, weighted well with a smooth & comfortable action, which you can actually adjust to be tighter or more loose, depending on your preference. I'm by no means a professional hair cutter, just a guy who likes to save money - but this kit comes with more combs than I know what to do with. In a barber shop setting I'm sure different combs have different purposes or are beter fits for certain types of hair, but for my needs I just found one that works and stuck with it. They are of decent quality, the box they all arrived in didn't fare too well in transit, it was crushed and all the contents had come out inside the outer packaging envelope but nothing was broken, and that's more of a delivery issue. The spray bottle and cape are also a great inclusion to keep mess to a minimum, I admit I'll probably not use the straight edge razor as I'm not confident enough to try it, but I have been using the scalp massager daily in the shower. I took this kit to my beautician for an evaluation of the “professional” grooming kit. The scissors are very nice, operate smoothly and cut well. The flat hair scissors have a rounded end that makes them appropriate for trimming nose hair. Every imaginable type comb is included. The quality of the combs are good. The straight razor tool fell apart when I opened it. It appears that this tool will not take the normal razors with a metal spine / back. The straight razor tool may be a use once and throw away tool The razor comb is of good quality with the razor clearly visible. Clips, spray bottle and bib are just fine for home use. The kit is a mix of what I would use at home with a couple pieces that are beyond the home stylist capabilities. The clips, spray bottle, bib and combs are good for occasional home use. Like that this set comes with so many tools for hair cutting, thinning, dividing, clipping and cleaning. Spray is nice and misty. The box does get torn overtime, would be better if this comes with a zippered box or bag for storage. And the foam gets hair stuck on it easily, hard to wash off, maybe a brush would do better than a foam for cleaning hair off stuff.
