It can be tricky to clean/sterilize but super easy to use. I was worried it would be a slow process from what others had written, but so long as you keep the bottles lower than the original container, it's not slow at all.

    • Useful little siphon
Initially I wasn't sure how this would work, thinking that squeezing and releasing the plastic bulb would just let air in and out of the tube. Apparently, there's a one way valve that prevents air from being sucked back in and so that vacuum pulls in the liquid from the container you want to drain and starts the siphoning action. The tube's outer diameter is that of a pencil, is made of a soft plastic so it's easy to bend, doesn't spring back and minimizes accidental spills. It will move about two liters a minute of liquid. Your mileage may vary depending on how high the drop is and so on. The filter basket is about 1 1/2 inches high and 1 inch in diameter, so once the liquid gets below the top of the strainer then air starts getting into the tube, stopping the siphon and leaving some liquid left in the container. ... show more

I was so happy to find this. I use it to pump out water out of my pedal boat drain plug. The one automotive store was too thick. This one was perfect The filter comes off so you have choices. I simply stuck the tube down the drain hole and pumped it for five times in the water started flowing. I am very happy. ... show more

This is a slow siphon, but it works well.

    • Tubing is stiff and inflexible, causes filter end to pop above liquid.
I needed a siphon to empty a very large heavy flower vase. This worked, but it was very slow, because I had to re-prime it several times. The tubing is very stiff, so the filter-end kept popping above the surface of the liquid. If the tubing was made of better quality more flexible tubing this siphon would work better.
