    • Strong chemical smell, killed fish.
I ordered this barrel for my son’s 2.2 gallon tank that is the home to an African frog and 2 tetra fish. When opening the package I was hit with a strong chemical smell. There were sharps edges as well but after reading reviews I sanded the sharps edges to a smooth edge. Due to the smell I soaked the barrel for 24 hours in hot water and rinsed with cold. Very quickly the fish seemed to be in distress so we continued to watch. By morning the fish seemed really off so I pulled out the barrel. When I got home from work one fish was dead, the other almost and the frog seemed off. We pulled out the living fish and are currently trying to revive him and have the frog separated. We had to do a complete tank clean out and will continue to monitor the fish and frog before returning to the tank. The barrel is very cute and was the perfect size for the tank but it is not safe for aquatic animals. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The Broken Barrel Decor Resin is a nice addition to my aquarium, despite losing a star that was on it. My catfish absolutely adore it, so I've decided to keep it. It adds a nice touch to the tank and provides some fun enrichment for my fish
